I don't know if there is an en.mo. But when I renamed all (ALL) files of languages (that is .mo), trying to put it in spanish, the menu changed to english.

I finally discovered it is even easier than that: just remove the ru.mo file - the default language appears to be English.
The 0.0.2 version works fine on my device - to save the options, you have to move the cursor on the joystick to the left once you are in the first page of the settings.

EDIT: one question on the skins - if you have more than one, I guess you do not put them all together in the "skin" directory, but perhaps use subdirectories? Or how should one proceed?

Can anyone comment on how well coolreader works for technical epubs? AdobeViewer (in Pro firmware 2.0.4) displays them very well, but the long pause between sections is annoying.

I prefer to use the skin that came separately. It's much nicer and neater:

http://narod.ru/disk/8049288001/cr3-pb-skin.zip.html

I just erased all the original contents of the folder \system\share\cr3\skin, and replaced them with the ones of the link above. It works very well with version 0.0.3.

New Version of my port (0.1-beta2): Check this post in the German forum or directly download here.

changelog:
  • Pictures are now in grayscales and not only B/W
  • Main menu, table of content and goto-page dialog are now in Pocketbook-Style and should work better.
Attention: you need to copy keydefs.ini and keymaps.ini! (And change the mappings again.) Otherwise the main menu wont be complete.

This port in completely different from the one in the russian forum. Therefore it probably has different features and bugs.

Does anyone know what I have to do, that coolreader gets started when I turn on my Pocketbook? I know how to show the last page on start-up but this only makes sense, when coolreader is started automatically afterwards...

reader42's port of coolreader adapted for Pro series

I think that only the app changed. So attached is only the updated app.

Enjoy and thanks reader42.

I just copied the beta2 version to my 302. Just deleted the old dirs and replaced them with the new versions.

I didn't change the mappings, I don't remember doing that for the first version , I may be mistaken.

Unfortunately the book only opens the title screen and nothing further. No grayscales, only black and white. I tried it on a couple of books.

But I'm very curious, maybe I'll have better luck with the next version!

Thanks for trying!

Could you send me a book which doesn't work for you to reader42@gmx.de?

The keydefs.ini should be the same for 302 and 90x/60x
For the keymaps.ini: Just copy the [mainMenuItems] part from the 302 version to your keymaps.ini

Hi reader42,

I was about to send you a mail, but before doing so, I checked my 302. Seems something went wrong when copying the files to the reader!

I 'reinstalled' and I do have greyscales and the buttons work. Sorry for the mistake . Should have known better . I'll test the reader and will let you know how it works.

It also remembers the position in the book, where the beta1 didn't, so I can actually use it on daily basis now.

Thanks + Karma

But with the 60X version, it doesn't seem to work (no grayscale)

I've used Coolreader yesterday, and I like it a lot better than beta1.

I like the lay-out options and it is able to present the epub better than fbreader180 imho. I really like the interface and will probably use this reader if some of the functions work a little better.

I couldn't find a way to change controls; I have set the controls in the options menu of the PB302. Both AdobeViewer and fbreader180 use those settings. Coolreader does not (yet?). Perhaps this is not a big deal, but sometimes I jump 10 pages instead of 1 . That can be confusing.

Also I'd like to be able to use a dictionary, I saw in the keymaps.ini that there is some reference to MCMD_DICT, but I'm too less of a programmer to put it to use . I've set one of the buttons to open a dictionary, but Coolreader overrules this.

Is it possible to use the power button as set in the overall menu? It does different things than AdobeViewer and fbreader180 who seem to share the overall settings. This is just for convenience. At the moment I use the powerbutton (one click) for menu, to switch books, switch profiles or to switch it off the PB302.

There are some other small issues, but these are the most important at the moment.
It is a great step forward though.
