Speedy Calibre!

It seems to me that sometime over the past few updates, Calibre began first to open, and then later to install (updates), much more speedily than it used to.

Just wanted to say to whomever's responsible (I imagine Kovid) that I've really noticed the difference, and thank you!

Yes, they made some changes to how it installs on Windows machines, and the install speed is much appreciated! I thought it was loading faster too.

I've been noticing Calibre opening faster for me also.

As far as updating, I read the change log for 7.51 and it had this to say:

Quote:
"Windows build: All the python code and recipes are now put into zip files. This should decrease the amount of time the windows installer spends 'calculating free space'"
Updates have definitely been faster since that change. It may just be me, but it seems like it's now taking half the time or even less.

I second the thanks...Calibre keeps getting better and better!

Much Appreciated!

I have to add my thanks as well! The difference in install speed on Windows is very noticeable and launch seems faster as well!

Cheers,
