Couldn't find a FAQ or anything obviously related to my questions.

I'd had hoped that a community forum might be an alternative to starting from scratch and making a new hobby of reading volumes of wiki pages and manuals.

The documentation could be more thorough but there is a Wiki section which includes User manual, Support group, changelog, install guide, etc...

What attitude... you've been directed to the wiki support which includes the user manual, support groups, changelog and install guides... if you've then got more specific questions then someone will try and help but you surely realise that all of this is provided free from other people's spare time and it isn't unreasonable to expect you to look at what is there before complaining about them...

Hello again.
I´ve a new cuestion.
The prs 700 had a key tu return action, to come bak to previous screen. Now, the 650 can come back only by taping the screen. Could be possible to assign this function to a key, for exemple, pressing it some seconds?

I think holding "option" button does what you want. And there already is an action which you can bind to any key, to do the same. (I don't remember, what I called it...

)

Hi
i have a PRS 600. i installed the base image as per install guide and everything appeared to go okay. i then copied the extracted PRSP installer update files to the root directory of the PRS 600 and restarted several times but nothing has changed on the ereader, still the same menus etc. My computers operating system is Windows 7 64bit. Any ideas on what might be going on. Thanks.

Restarting once should be enough.
PRS+ doesn't start, if reader is connected via USB during boot ("safe mode").
Other than that, after extracting you should have gotten "PRSPInstaller" folder with some files and 2 subfolders data & prsp and files in them. (I know there are some strange zip archivers, that flatten the structure when extracting)

Thanks for the reply. I restarted several times just in case something strange was going on after the first time changed nothing, ereader was not connected to USB. PRSPInstaller folder had the 2 subfolders with files in them that you mentioned but only 1 file "installer.sh" outside the subfolders. the other thing i noticed was that the explorer tree showed three new drives when i plugged the ereader into the usb port, 1 for the reader, 1 for the readers sd card and another named installer.

So it still doesn't work eh? Did the flasher actually successfully install? Basically the easiest way to check it, try to open attached text file. If you see squares instead of letters, you still do NOT have "base" PRS+.

Hundreds of users already installed 2.0.10alpha for 600, so if there were some common problem related to this release, it would have been reported already, I presume.

hi Kartu
figured out what i was doing wrong. i was just turning the ereader off and on with the power switch. when i went to advanced settings and selected 'shut down' and restarted it everything was working. thanks for all your help, very much appreciated.

Another one missing a basic function of the ereader... instead of releasing switch immediately, hold for several seconds and you will get exactly the same shutdown option without going through menus... same on all Sonys...

i did that several times, holding for a count of at least six. never made any difference. perhaps i should have held it longer but i think the manual says that about 3 seconds should do it.
