I guess the cloud storage (specifically, the price) is kind of a big deal, but other than that, no.

What would be interesting is if Amazon released the cloud storage and cloud player apps on iOS. That might be a threat to iTunes (which is why I couldn't see Apple allowing the apps on the App Store).
In practical terms I think it will be great if they run it like their ebook store. Currently all your purchased ebooks are in your account and kept on Amazon servers. Buy a new Kindle and download all your purchased content. Hopefully the same will happen with the Android store, buy apps and they keep a copy for you.

Think iTunes, you buy an app or song....best keep a copy because if you delete it by mistake best pull out the credit card and buy it again. I recently did a factory reset on my android phone, and all the apps I had previously downloaded (all free) were gone from my phone which is fine, but when I logged into the Android market it listed the apps I had previously downloaded as "recommended" and the next time I logged in to the android market the list was gone. Buggered if I know all the apps I had on there.

Hmmm maybe Media Monkey can loan out their monkey to Amazon to help them quickly get off the ground. They can pay him in cigaretts and beer.

Not true for apps or books, actually, at least for iOS.

I don't understand the title of this thread. In what way have Amazon "locked up" anything?

Still I think we are rapidly approaching the day when all our devices will be on line and communicating continuously and certainly at that point cloud or virtual cloud or personal cloud makes tons of sense.

Mine are! Well; except for my wife's car, and my livingroom TV set (it's an old one that doesn't have HDMI).

And yes, a personal colud does make sense.

If you go to the web site market.android.com you can see a list of all the apps you have at one point installed. Won't tell you what you had installed however.

The one thing the android app market does tell you is what apps you have purchased so that you may re-install them.

well after close to 2.5 hours of downloading, I must say using it on my phone this moring was pretty sweet. Very easy to navigate etc. sounded great. still will keep using my Sansa until cell phone company's and battery manufactures can get on the same page.

But so far so good.

I have a dumb phone and two things keep me from using its MP3 function: 1) don't want to drain the battery and not have it available for phone calls, 2) it has a 2.5mm headphone jack.

My Sansa is here for the long haul.
