This review is from: Final Justice (A Lorne Simpkins thriller) (Kindle Edition)
Final Justice is the sequel to the excellent Impeding Justice where we first meet DI Lorne Simpkins who is attempting to apprehend the killer called the unicorn. With the end of Impeding Justice it was obvious that there would be a sequel, and what a sequel it is! In my view, this book is better than the first book in the series for a number of reasons. Most importantly, Mel¡¦s writing seems to have slowed down somewhat since book one, she¡¦s trying to cram less in and the overall book benefits from that. The fact that there is slightly less edge-of-your seat action in this book means that the violence, when it does come, is somehow all the more shocking. I felt that Mel flushed out her characters a lot more in this book and I really began to care for Lorne by the end of the book.
All in all, a great second book from a superb new author. º

Hope you enjoy it.

Mel
Wow, nice review, Mel. I'm reading your first one and the second one sounds very interesting.

I'm still compiling a list of sites to submit my story Jefferson's Road: The Spirit of Resistance to. It's the first in a series of dystopic thrillers about a 2nd American Civil War. It's getting good reviews on Amazon and one or two sites I've sent it to (people I've met in other forums who offered to look at it).

I'm wondering if anyone could recommend some good review sites to send it off to? Thanks!

My children's steampunk fantasy is finally available at B&N!!

The information is below. (And for those with a NookColor it comes with a color map.)

[Graphic too large - MODERATOR]

Two dads, five siblings, and goggles!

Grim Doyle has always known his life was not exactly "normal", and things get even more curious when he discovers a set of stones that sweep him and his family to the fantasy, steampunk world of Verne - a place they had escaped from years ago. Now that they've returned, Grim and his siblings hide from the evil Lord Victor and his minions. And while learning about Jinns, Mystics, and the power of absinth they try to discover who is trying to kill them with the deadly Scourge.

I also have a book trailer on Youtube

You can find it at B&N here.

Cheers!
David

In addition to my children's fantasy, I also have a dark, epic fantasy that is also now available for the Nook!

[Graphic too large - MODERATOR]

Here's a quick blurb on the book:

Five hundred years have passed since the Earth shifted on its axis - a catastrophic event that wiped out civilization and released the powers of the dead back to Earth. With technology long abandoned, a dark age has shrouded our world once more. Travel to a future of blood sacrifice, demons, witchcraft, and an immoral God that has returned to reclaim his former dominion.

"Beautifully written, dark and eerie vision of an apocalyptic future."
- Margaret Weis, New York Times Bestselling Author

"David H. Burton is a dark new talent in the genre. This one will make you leave the lights on for a week!"
- USA Today Bestseller, Cathy Clamp

Book trailer on YouTube:

You can find it at B&N here.

Cheers!
David

All right, if you are tired of all of those goody-two-shoes superheroes...
If you are tired of all of that truth, justice and mom's apple pie...
If you hanker and hunger for a superhero like you've never seen before...

Check out my collection NOTHING TO LOSE, with three tales of one of the nastiest heroes you've ever met - Captain Nothing.

Think Jack Kirby meets Franz Kafka meets Raymond Chandler meets Will Eisner.

Go ahead. Give it a try. For a mere $2.99 you've got...

Nothing To Lose

Just made my Kindle book a cover and uploaded it last night. Thought I might pimp it out a little bit.

The book is called The Hunter, and it's not your average superhero story. The book is set in the real world, where superheros don't, and can't, exist. A young man, at the end of his rope and ready to try anything, accidentally helps stop a crime and receives a reward. He decides to try and make a career out of it, becoming the superhero known as The Hunter.

Unfortunately, he quickly realizes that it's not easy to actually find crime, much less fight it. He does manage to get some notice, and after hiring a publisher he becomes very popular. When his popularity begins to wane, he will do anything to keep riding the high of being rich and famous, even if it means becoming his own arch-nemesis.

Currently $1.99 in the Kindle store. Thinking about opening it up to other platforms depending on how it sells. Also, reviews are appreciated if anyone does get it.

Plugging like mad! Not novels, but shorts I think are worth some attention.

Science Fiction: The colony is desperate for food. One worker, charged with gathering supplies, begins to have misgivings about the settlement's inherent communism. But those misgivings quickly give way to terror when the monsters arrive. If you're a fan of Richard Matheson or the Twilight Zone, you'll love The Dangers Of Field Work.

$.99 on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

Dark Comedy / Horror: What happens when a body rejects the entire consciousness of someone, much in the way a person could reject an organ transplant? Worse, what if the bits and pieces that make you up are keen on getting out? They are you, but you are not them. This is a bloody tale of revenge.

$.99 on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

"I've read a few romantic/ paranormal type books with portals in them, but this is the first time I've been given a convinicing scientific explanation! I enjoy your creative science-thinking, but also enjoyed the human interest element of Phantoms. The end left me a little wistful for Dave, but I like to think he will get his Susie back."
