Actually the weight of the line is dependent on the pressure. As with other Wacom graphics tablets.

For those of you with this device... How did you go about getting hold of it?

I have seen them on a taiwanese website, but unfortunately I'm your typical Englishman and, whereas I could order food or a round in many different languages (as well as my please and thank yous), I have no idea how to approach this at all.

I notice that that ebay.co.uk has a couple of sellers from Taiwan with EA800.

Otherwise, I am still looking for a shop in Europe which sells them at a reasonable price.

I wonder, what is causing the apparent shortage of EA800. If it was a fake shortage(the kind of Sony, Apple, et al have done) then the roll out would still have been worldwide. As it is, seems like the shortage is real.

The EA800 seems to be on sale in Italy, at least according to the website of some large consumer electronics chains (e.g., Mediaworld). As with the DR-900 ebook reader (which I know for sure that is on sale, having bought one), it seems that Italy has been chosen (for obscure reasons) as the test market in Europe.

And where did that come from... Apple and Sony, of course, do not want to sell things so they are keeping them all in a hidden warehouse just to stop those nasty customers giving them money...

Thanks for this post. I have been looking at the NoteSlate device (and hoping it doesn't become vapor-ware) and this is the closest I have seen to it, although higher priced than NoteSlate is saying.

The noteslate is supposed to be an e-ink version of a writing tablet with less shades of grey (monochrome) and an open OS for (potentially) awesome future extensibility/features.

elcreative, sorry for going off topic, but that was a reference to certain marketing practices (google "fake shortage marketing" to get some idea on products it has been employed on). I think one particularly egregious instance was PS3 a few years back when it was starting a roll-out. Generating a fake shortage is sometimes seen as a way to generate additional interest(read hype) in the product.

Back on topic, in this particular case, it just seems Asus does not have enough units to do a world wide roll-out. Another case might be that EA800 just does not have a high priority.

Interesting, I think the key to be competitve is to have a solid bookstore platform, if they could align themseleves with Google Books, BN or Kobo, then this is very interesting indeed. a gray scale LCD almost is a happy compromise between eink and LCD, Won't have the brightness factor that bothers some and keeps them in the eink camp but at the same time allows for much more functinality that can be achieved by using LCD that eink just is crippled by.

Interesting to say the least.

Their Eee Pad Transformer ( their Android Honeycomb tablet) has raised many an eyebrow. This is interesting indeed and a nice price.

but again I think it'll need a solid Bookstore platform though. Thanks for posting.

edit to add m Oh man I did not realize this was a very old thread. Well OooooKaaay LOL

How does it compare with the screen of Palm M500? If it is as good as the M500, I will be very satisfied.
