hugging, the use of hugs was such a surprise when I went to North America from the Old Country back in the 60's. we just did not do it. except at funerals. it actually embarrassed me

And what to do with the hand around the back? You gently pat with it, or you move it around. Funny thing.

Enjoying the day off from work, chatting with a couple friends, and preparing to "play games" with my crotch-fruit. And by "play games" I mean him going to the opposite side of the room, me saying "GO!", and him sprinting at me in attempt to bulldoze through me. It's a logical progression after mastering the arm-bar.

I went jogging, came home looking forward to a hot shower and some food only to find my door didn't open ... Apparently you can't leave a key on the inside if you want to get back inside

So right now I'm cursing myself for my stupidity that just cost me 130€

you can lock the door with the key still in the lock - I know you can do that easily with a car; but this is in your home

Stressing about getting contacts tomorrow. My optometrist suggested that I try contacts, but they had to order them for me. I live 200km away so it means a day trip each time.

Now I'm not sure if I can cope with contacts (the insertion and removal seems a bit iffy) and I don't know whether I'm going to need glasses in conjunction with the contacts. I do lots of computer work and from what I've read some people say contacts aren't suitable for that. They also say that you need to rest your eyes for a day or two when wearing contacts. Now without glasses I'll be blind to anything further than a meter away...

That sucks, I assume you got a locksmith or did you lob a half brick through a window?

I tried the half brick method only to find that the burglar bars really do keep burglars out! The only way for the locksmith to get in was to cut the burglar bars out with a cutting wheel. So the cost of forgetting my key was about the same as yours, the real fun bit was that the key I thought I left in the house, was on the floor of my car, the key ring broke and dropped the keys in the car!

So hoist a drink for the unlucky (you) and the stupid (me)

Heh, that really is even more stupid than what I just did

My apartment is on the third floor, so throwing a brick through the window and then climbing inside would be a little difficult. I called the locksmith, he arrived within half an hour. So all in all not such a big disaster. But the amount of money they charge for 1 minute of work sucks big time
