The selection is actually in a more logical location, since I assume that, like me, most people tend to open more new tabs than new windows. By the end of the week, it should be second nature.
It was second nature to me in about half-an-hour, but that may be because I said "Of course! Why wasn't this done years ago?". If you are going to use a tabbed browser in the first place, it's a reasonable supposition that what you want to open is a tab, not a window.

Those using keyboard shortcuts likely never noticed, as Control-N has always opened a new windows, and Control-T has always opened a new tab.

And I seldom use that menu in any case. I open my bookmarks file in the Sidebar, and the default action on clicking one is open in new tab. (I use the Tab Mix Plus addon, which can force everything to open in a new tab.)

Right-click on the toolbar, and select Customize. Move things about as you prefer.

You could do that in FF 3, too (and I'm pretty sure you could do it in FF 2). FF 4 simply adds more flexibility, with greater choice about what can be put where.

See Alex Limi's blog post: http://limi.net/articles/firefox-4/

Alex is UX lead at Mozilla, and his post is a good overview of what FF is doing and why.

I don't see much of a need myself, which is why I've decided to wait for an undated add-on rather than forcing it. I'm really liking the new Firefox.

That's probably healthier than occasionally having brownies for breakfast! Sometimes I have cherry pie -- which is only half-way okay. It's fruit, after all ..... but the sweet level would be frowned upon by the Mommies among us. (or by my Mom!)

I may have exaggerated a wee bit. Maybe not quite a hundred windows, but I did open a few of them. It's becoming second nature now, but it did take longer than a half hour.

Because they don't sell our cats' favourite toy anymore (a mouse filled with nip) I was planning on making one myself by stuffing nip in baby socks and tying it up.

I bought the nip earlier this week, I let Nikita smell it and she didn't know what to do with it and walked away. Lexie, however, stuffed her nose in the container, inhaled and went crazy the rest of the night. One moment she was all stoned; staring off into the distance, the next moment she became overactive, shooting her ping pong balls around the room and racing around scaring Nikita.

I'm going to buy the socks tomorrow and see if I can tie it up good enough so they won't manage to open it up and spill the nip.

Listening to Phineas and Ferb on the tube for snacktime entertainment. A 3-year-old trying to mimic Perry's growl is amusing as all get-out.

My old cat Spot, when young, had the same routine with a new catnip mouse -- she would grasp it firmly in her paws, find the belly seam, and rip it open -- and then roll in the nip until she was completely stoned.

Nikita doesn't know what playing is and is always trying to "kill" her toys. With the nip filled mice she was always tearing off the ears, sometimes ripping it open. She kept Lexie away from the spilled nip, not that she liked it but more because she considered the nip hers.
