You can get it both ways. If you got it for the Desktop app, it does not mean you will get it for the eReader at the same time, the upgrade chances are set separately.

Just keep checking back, the rollout will eventually get to you

My goodness, why would I want to update this?
If I don't sync to the desktop, I assume I will NOT get this update?
I can't see any benefit, and many negatives. Am I missing something really important here? (I read what was new, but cut it in my response to conserve space.)

I have had the update a few days now and have tried all the functions multiple times with no glitches or hiccups. I did notice one thing during my testing...

Loading a jpg image from the Documents sections works fine and places the image in the "I'm Reading" section, all good so far, but if you try to load it again from the Documents section without closing out of the "Im Reading section you just get a black screen. Ebooks just load regardless.... Can be a bit worrisome until you figure it out.

But the upgrade is most definitely worth it.

I am wondering if the serial numbers of units that are problematical maybe worth recording?

Really, most of the issues listed here are are pretty minor (outside of the reading on the desktop issues and most people aren't doing that). Outside of the dual-band router issue, the power off occasional issue and possibly having to try more than once to connect to the wifi store none of these issues really affect anything and those 3 are small challenges.
The positive side of the upgrade is you get the goto function and the ability to close books from the menu which are nice functions to have.
If you don't want the upgrade it will ask if you want to install it or not when it detects it (although it may keep asking if you say no). If you're syncing to Kobo at all, avoiding the desktop probably won't help since it will ask on wireless sync too (but you should still have the option to say no).

Have you tried a reset? Under Menu - Settings - Advanced

Yes, it is, but it is Kobo-2 the WiFi one, only. Which one do you have?

Do I have to have the Desktop App in order to get the upgrade? Cause I don't (my computer is too old for the Desktop). I keep checking the store to get it, and it's not giving me the upgrade.

Can't. I'm on a Mac with Tiger (OS 10.4.11), the Kobo Desktop won't run on it. I do all my downloading via ADE or plain drag-and-drop.
