Right now I'm sitting here sipping coffee and watching Black-capped Chickadees in the tree outside my (open!) window. Yesterday my sister and I went to a local park. This is a bad cellphone picture, but look closely at the partially submerged log. On the part of it that is over water, there are at least 15 turtles sunbathing. I love the way they pile up on any available surface!

I've not been posting much this weekend - because Friday we decided to foster a 4 month old Tortoiseshell-Maine Coon Cat kitten we named Stella (I can go through the house shouting "Stelllllllaaaaaa!") - actually we were "catnapped" by her cuteness. I'm trying to get pictures to post - but she's not still a whole lot unless sound asleep.

We're hoping to adopt her if our 2 older cats ever stop hissing and stalking her - it's been an exciting 2 days so far - no bloodshed - but oh the sound effects!

We raised Sammy from a kitten - she is now 7 and isn't thrilled to have a cute rival. I'm rediscovering the parental skills of cooking and eating breakfast with a flashlight in one hand moving that magic red dot in & out of the kitchen. Carpets covered with toys. Kitten chow breath.

Wish us luck!

I hate microsoft office apps...particularly xcel and powerpoint, but friggin' word and outlook too.

I'm considering going completely with Google Docs (and maybe Open Office as a backup).

In fact I just started a poem using google docs online.

onenote's good for poetry, especially with its auto-sync that I use between PC and laptop - though I'm using Scrivener more these days.

The o/s I guess. Which seems to be okay as of Win7-64.

The thing that is truly annoying to me is that they just keep cramming more and more into all of them and keep getting more complicated and cumbersome. Hell I couldn't even find how to update my sig in outlook yesterday and had to end up going to the help system ...

The thing about google docs is that it is stored on-line so all you really need to get to it and update, edit, etc. is a browser.

Trotted off to look at your photo gallery. Head & face similar, but her body is pure Tortie - medium to short "bunny soft" fur with classical patch-work Tortie colors - but tufty ears & bushy tail & snow shoe big feet. We'll see if her coat changes to more of the Maine Coon type as she grows up.

She's a big kitten - I thought she must be at least 8 months old from her size (over 5 pounds) - but the vet checked her teeth - still has baby molars. If she grows into her feet, she'll be a big girl!

[still trying for pics - thank heavens for digital cameras - I would have used up rolls of film by now for action shots of the back of her head, an empty rug, etc.]
