Finishing off a pouch for the Nook. Made from part of an old pair of jeans. Did I mention I have a reputation for being a horder, pack rat, call it what you like. I like to call it "recycling queen" (Another part of those jeans went towards a tote bag for my daughter. Embroidery on it "My mom recycles more than your mom!")
(Oh yeah, there's also part of a plastic placemat and some "rubbery" shelf liner in the cover - Horder? Pack rat? Recycler? Who cares!)

That's really beautiful, Asawi! Did you embroider the picture of the books and the person reading too? Please post that attachment to other sub-forums here as I'm sure there will be several people wishing to purchase them your pouches (if you want to sell them, that is.) Wonderfully creative and professionally crafted!

I'm trying, without much success, to figure out how to 'pair' several Bluetooth devices at one time. This afternoon I bought some helmet communicators that can pair with cell phones, MP3 players, GPS units, Radar detectors, as well as several headsets.

So far I can get the communicator to pair with one at a time, but not all of them together. I know that it's supposed to, and can even pair with six headsets for group rides as well, but I'll be fried before I figure out how it's done.

Imagine trying to program a video recorder, following instructions written in a very foreign language. Now imagine trying to first set the clock, then program it to record several different shows using different antennas, different times and stations, some being bi-lingual while others are only sub-titled, while watching a different channel. THAT is what it feels like to me!

Anyone have a 12 year old kid they can lend me? I'm sure that would get the job done in minutes!

Can't be a Japanese product though. It would have a 50 page manual with pictures and the set-up would be finished in minutes.

It's machine embroidered. A big hobby of mine.
I'm not a much of a seamsress though and everything I do (apart from the embroidery) is dead easy, anyone can do it. Really, I'm serious! That''s where my creativity shows itself: I'm good at figuring out how even an all thumbs dummie can do something.

Good luck with the technostuff, Stitchawl! Challenging.
Have fun with the accounting FlorenceArt. I do NOT envy you!

Oh, it's completely Japanese! They only make the big instruction manuals in English for the products they export. This one is made for the Japanese market. 6-page instruction manual (with bad pictures) but a 25-page 'warning' manual;
"Do not use the communicator as a hammer."
"Do not submerge the main transmitter in Battery Acid."
"Do not place inside microwave ovens while in use."
"Do not feed to people with plastic allergies...."

Yeah, right....
To carve an elephant from a block of marble;
Step 1. Face block of marble with chisel in hand.
Step 2. Chip away everything that doesn't look like an elephant.
The end.

I was certainly NOT referring to the manuals you get in Europe with Japanese products!!! Those are in a dozen languages, so there's maybe 5 pages per language, often very badly translated and always useless.

My experience about Japanese user manuals is that they are always extremely detailed and show step by step pictures. I bought a 3D graphics software when I was living in Japan, and even with my very limited understanding of written Japanese I was able to use the software after following the first few tutorials. And I definitely remember that my phone+fax+answering machine had a very thick user manual. Has Japan been aligning itself on European standards of service in the last 10 years?
