Thank you all for your kind thoughts and comments. It's good to have so many friends here. I thought I was well prepared for this day. Dad had emphysema for a very long time and he stretched it longer than anyone thought possible. He always kept everyone at a distance all his life So I couldn't say we were ever close. Still, I'm feeling a bit alone today and miss him a lot. It makes me feel for all those who lose loved ones that are a lot closer and particularly for those that lose more than one in tragedies like we saw last week.

I heard this quite in a film about an airplane crash and I've been carrying it with me for a long time.
I think it is a poignant snapshot of what so many of us feel when we lose a loved one. So this is for VR's dad, for Exer's girlfriend, for KindleWorm's grandbaby, for all:
