If you're a native English speaker, the little paper book called "Kana Can Be Easy" will enable you to learn Katakana and Hiragana in 3-4 weeks easily. That's what I used and it was painless! Kanji can take years...

Both y'all and all y'all are singular. Y'all is more casual, as in the sentence, "Y'all come back soon, now, ya' hear?" (Side-note: hear, of course, has two syllables.) All y'all is considered more formal, and generally reserved for matters of official business; as in the sentence, "What we need is to get all y'all brainiacs working together on this here project." (Here also has two syllables.)

Thanks, but actually I already know the Kana. What I really need is something to help memorize words.

Taxi is leaving in 20 minutes. Then all it takes is a few hours of stress, delays and various frustrations (no food on European flights now - well, except if you count crackers as food - on the way in we had party crackers with smiling faces on them - I always enjoy eating a smiling face) and if all goes well I'll be home in time for bed.

My bags are packed; they're by the door
Already I'm so lonesome, I could cry!

Nowhere. Her first line about her taxi just set me off onto the lyrics of "Leaving on a Jet Plane". You can probably tell somebody's age by the songs that spring automatically into their head!

Leaving on a Jet Plane gives me flashbacks to the film Armageddon.

I thought so, just checking though. I know the song well.

Kenny you just gave away your age man, no one under a certain age would know who John Denver is let alone that he wrote that song, in 1966!

I prefer the Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies version

My head has a female singing it. I'll have to google to see who else did it. Early 70's or perhaps mid.

Oh -- Peter, Paul, and Mary's last and most famous (per wikipedia) hit. THAT would be the lovely female voice I remember.

I think before Chantal Kreviazuk covered it for the Armageddon soundtrack, the Peter, Paul and Mary version was the most recognized version. I honestly don't recall John Denver's version, not that I was ever a fan.

The irony of his dying in a plane crash has been mentioned so many times, oops there I go mentioning it!
