Edit: Wow! I just tried the Google Translate thing. Listen to the audio... It really CAN be mistaken for Basque! Certainly didn't sound like any Japanese, even mine!

Nope. Only in the movies. Y'all is definitely plural. I've never actually heard somebody say y'all to a single person, unless he really MEANS "all of you." For instance, if I were to call my sister on the phone and say, "have y'all eaten yet?" I would mean the family. If I just wanted to know if she had eaten yet I would just say it the normal way.

Southern-speak. It's complicated.

If you tell Google Translate it's Japanese, and ask it to translate to English, you get the exact same string as the translation.

I suspect it would do better if you fed it Japanese characters instead of English transliteration.

I tried to translate with all of the translation sites listed on the first page of the Google search results with that very same result.

Japanese uses four different syllabary, often using all four in a single sentence. While reading three of the four is quite easy, the fourth, Kanji, can take years to master, and even then, the skill levels are such that most newspapers will use one of the phonetic syllabaries just above it for clarity. There are well over 200,000+ characters, depending upon which source is being quoted.

The four are; Kanji (the borrowed Chinese pictograph charaters,) Hiragana (phonetic characters used for words used in old Japan,) Katakana (phonetic characters used for new 'borrowed' words such as 'computer,' 'broccoli,' or 'rocket ship,' and finally Romaji, the ABC alphabet used for words used in English, German, and French, especially in large posters, banners, Advertising, etc.

I had a feeling that if I used Kanji, Hiragana, or Katakana for my post, no one would be able to figure it out. Little did I know that using Romaji would make it impossible!

What I actually said was;

on sisters and arguments, well, i have nothing good to say about my eldest sister when she's angry. let's just say that all those church sessions seem to not be working i think she's mellowed a little now, though i think it's more because of more life experiences rather than religion. she uses her iphone to go on facebook while inside the place, for goodness sakes. and she's always late.
