That's wonderful, Cyclops. The big worry now is about the reactors, and that could affect places as far away as the U.S. Japan was hit with a triple dose of sorrows and worries.

What a bad year it's been for so many thus far. First the floods in Australia, now this. Maybe we should just cancel 2011 altogether. I fear to see what else it has in store.

This haiku is for:

Exer and the loss of his beloved Angel

TheKindleWorm and the loss of the unborn grandbaby

Billjr13 and the loss of his Uncle Dennis

Kevin2960 and the loss of his dear friend Radio Ham G8XKB

Billi and the loss of his uncle

LCF and the loss of a friend's grandfather

Stitchawl and the loss of his mother

CWatkinsNash and the loss of his dad

ardeegee and the loss of a grandmother

and anyone I inadvertently left out, or who has not posted here

for the pain and grief each of you experienced at the death of a loved one, there are no words ....

How can a heart hurt?
How can wet tears burn dry eyes?
How can loss fill you?

The older I get the more mortal I feel.

I empathise with contributors to this thread.

For our dear friends that have an ache in their heart having lost someone recently. *A hug*

The workers in the power plants in Japan are essentially on suicide missions, trying to contain the damage. If they wear enough protective gear to keep themselves safe from radiation, they can't move enough to do their jobs. And when those people get too sick to work, the plants are considering bringing in retired workers to replace them, because they have shorter lifetimes left.

They are true heroes. It's one thing to face a bullet; but to face the near certainty of a lingering, painful death to save the lives of their friends, family, and fellow citizens is truly above and beyond the call of duty.

Yes, much karma to these workers.
