Awww Honey, don't give it another thoight. I spent most of my working life working with doctors, and they very much appreciate knowing these sort of things. You did right by speaking to her doctor. Dosing correctly for something like blood thinners is critically important.

It's a long story, but basically she neglected to call us yesterday to give us the updated dosage instructions for Mom's blood thinner. I went to the office today to find out why, and she was incredibly rude. Then she said she had to page the doc because he was gone for the day. After about 15 minutes she came back out and said she had talked to him, and gave me the dosage. I knew immediately it was way too high, and asked her to page the doc and have him call ME. She came very close to flat refusing to do it, but when I got nose to nose with her and told her I was not leaving until she called him, she did it. He called me immediately, and I was right. (Which I knew.) I unloaded on him about the rudeness and ineptitude of the new staff member. I don't know if it will do any good or not. It was very very stressful, and now I feel like I've ruined all of Mom's good relationships in that office. Changing doctors is not an option, by the way. He somehow pulled her away from death's door when she had her major heart attack in 1996, and has somehow kept her ticking along every since. She's 90 now, and he says he's going to throw her a 100th birthday party. She loves him, and would be thrown into a panic if there was any suggestion of changing doctors. So I'll just have to make sure to keep being her advocate and doing what I have to do to keep her healthy. I just hate this part of it, though.

Sorry to hear that Betty. It almost sounds like you caught her in a mistake and she took the "I'll be rude" cover up method. Did the Dr admit he had told her the wrong dosage? Hopefully the Dr can fix his own office up and no0t have it impact your mom's care in any way. She is very lucky, by the way, to have you there looking out for her. Too many people simply accept what the "expert" says and go on their merry way.

I absolutely HATE incompetence, and when I find it in people who are supposed to be trained it’s even worse. But when it effects peoples’ health it’s unacceptable.

Betty, you're a good daughter to your mom and will do all it takes to keep her healthy. Nurses will make mistakes, but hopefully the doctor will watch her after your very just complaint. Good for you that you stood up to her!

I'm sure he'll fix said nurses attitude to her work and be thankful to you for having prevented trouble.

when there are lives involved there's no place for such carelessness she had displayed.

ARRRGH! At the Home and Garden show, I told the spokesmodels what my budget was, and why that was all that i want to spend. (Because we plan to sell the house in 2012, so did not want a giant investment.) The salesman just left, and we wasted his time and ours because the quote is exactly double what our budget is. Double what we told the show girls and double what we told him when he walked in the door. ARRRRGH!

Logitech make a very reliable cordless mouse. (Logitech M305) I have been using mine for about six months now, and you can simply switch off on the back when not in use.



Mom's with caring daughters are extremely lucky, and I am sure that your mother does realise this.
