I have a PRS-300. While trying to change language to Spanish, the reader gets blocked in 'Opening books'.
The only solution I have found is to make a Hard reset, pressing a while (down arrow + 0). Since there, the reader works properly (in english), and obviously loosing all the books inside the reader. I hope this can help you. |

If you connect it to your PC right after reset you should be able to save all your books. (at the very least). It should also reset locale to English. Spanish xml file had an error in it, that's causing it: Quote:

OK. My problem is that none of my computers seems to recognize the reader and it won't turn off long enough to get out of this updating firmware mode. To clarify the 10 reset function: Do I press reset then power off, press reset then off, etc, etc, 10 times?

Then you connect it to your PC and start the updater I've linked in my previous posts. It should find the reader and update it. Your PCs aren't supposed to recognize the reader in update mode, only updater is. |

Meh, that's my bad. 2.0.10alpha doesn't contain needed part (rootfs) to reduce installer size (silly me). Try this one: http://code.google.com/p/prs-plus/do...q=#makechanges BUT, to avoid annoying file system errors, delete previous installer first: reboot (shutdown -> switch on or reset, doesn't matter) and immediatelly connect it to PC (so that autorun stuff from installer isn't loaded, if it is loaded, there is no clean way of removing it, unless you reboot). Remove old installer put new one. Disconnect and follow instructions on the screen. |

To delete the previous installer do I just delete the entire PRS installer folder?

What the...
Let's do it manually. Go to the "expert mode". There, choose "force flash PRS+". After that is done, use "reboot" menu. |

OK that seemed to work so far - it is asking me to press the menu button - just to confirm since I'm paranoid - which button is considered as the menu button - home?
