I hear you! Last year this time or before there was all kinds of buzz about new eBook readers that would be released in 2010. Some are actually still shown in the MR list of readers, and yet many of them have still to be released. In my case I kept waiting for a decent/affordable Windows 7 tablet, but I finally gave up on that idea for now. Then I hoped that Apple would release a 7" iPad. But as soon as the iPad 2 was introduced I decided to wait no more for devices that might never exist and also chose an iPad 1 at the clearance price savings. Now that I have it I'm actually glad I bought it as the 9.7" screen has worked out really well. I thought I really wanted a 7" screen like my nookcolor, but after comparing the two devices I think 9.7" is much better for my specific needs. I briefly considered getting the iPad 2, but there are already a lot of accessories for the iPad 1 and the iPad 2 would not have had very many available for some time. Plus I really didn't see any great benefit for the improvements made to the iPad 2, so I immediately went to Best Buy and grabbed one of the last iPad 1s they had left.

I was going to order a refurbished 16GB iPad from Apple. Since I wasn't getting exactly what I wanted, I figured I'd just get the basics. Then I decided to check eBay prices of folks looking to upgrade and I thought, "Maybe I should get the 64GB version for less than the price of a 16GB version." When the 3 cases, dock, screen protector, AppleCare extended warranty and tax are added up, I ended up with more than 50% off retail prices for a very well taken care of iPad.

If someone is selling their iPad to upgrade to the iPad 2, chances are good that they take care of their gadgets because they know full well that they intend to sell the current product to off set, the cost of, the upgrade.

In the meantime, the Kno, which I've been waiting for since Christmas, wasn't something just in the news, they took my pre-order and they call me regularly with "shipment" updates. If the product was ready to be shipped by Dec. 20th, I can't figure out why none went out. My guess is that they took pre-orders and just hoped to bang them out?? I can't figure it out. It seems very odd to me.

You can take notes with this using a stylus, you just need the right app.

For note taking:

1) penultimate - simple notes useful for shopping lists, when you standing talking to someone perhaps, talking on the phone and want to take notes on the fly.
2) fastfinga - like penultimate in look of writing except you can zoom in and write between lines like you would normally and also you can see each individual page rather than having to turn to it.
3) Notes plus - never understood the appeal of this one, I find it awkward. Has shape recognition and all that stuff for diagrams etc.
4) Noteshelf - like penultimate in look except you can zoom, has templates for different note books (journal, day planner etc) however individual page turning therefore its a chore to get to the page you want in a notebook.
5)Muji note - Bought this and haven't really used it, I do know that it doesn't recognise any text you put (in regards to entering handwritten individual letters to be converted into printed text - this function does not work).
6) Noterise - haven't used much but times I did seemed a bit awkward.
7) Touchwriter, inotes, upad purchased but never tried out yet.
8) Note taker hd - all of the above and more however not so good looking interface.

And of course the right stylus. Here are a couple of choices:
