Hard frozen. Well I could just freeze a shot. And also drops of it on a sugar cube to be sucked dry, again and again.

or maybe a dram of sliwovitz? Or of line aquavit? Nahhh. I am not drinking to night. Or not ...

But this is atrocious! That new boss will not last for long. I might drop the word to a guy that I know that could make him an offer that he can't possibly refuse. No way.

Word is to the kitchen gone and word is to the hall,
And word is up to Madam the Queen and that is the worst of all.
That Mary Hamilton's born a child, to the highest Stuart of all.
"Arise, arise Mary Hamilton, Arise and come with me;
There is a wedding in Glasgow town, this night we'll go and see."

Good morning, world! Happy Wednesday! Sun's up and there's Yorshire tea in my cup. Breakfast this morning is left-over falafel with tzatziki sauce and some really bad homemade bread. (I shouldda followed a recipe... ) But the falafel is good and the tea is great. I shouldn't complain.

By the way, what the hell is with the Hello Kitty obsession? Every one of my students had either a Hello Kitty pencil case or a Mickey Mouse t-shirt.
Disney corporation reports that it licenses the Disney Characters to various Japanese markets (clothing, cell phones, accessories) that are targeted at the 18-25 year olds, rather than targeting the junior crowd as in the US and Europe. Most shopping malls here will have at least one, if not more, stores just selling Hello Kitty and Disney stuff.

On average, how many do you go through in a day. Back in the early 80's I was addicted to Coca Cola, and was drinking between 30-40 bottles a day. I was doing some very high stress strike location security work and all that caffeine and sugar really kept me pumped! However, by 7pm I'd have the most God awful headache!

I don't think I could work in that sort of environment. It feels too much like an invasion of privacy and lack of trust.

Time for a second cup of tea... I think another cup of Yorshire tea will do nicely!

Oh, my -- I used to sing that as a lullaby to my nieces way back when, and I think I knew something like 13 verses. I haven't heard it, or sung it, in years. Thanks for the memory.

now with the revelations of the pure crrrrrrap that goes into caramel colouring, I would think that more folks would be more careful!

naw, I just really like the flavour of a really well made Bloody Mary every once in awhile. I bought some spicy V8, we'll see what happens later. even though I am working on a Chardonnay right now.

when I decided to transition careers, that was a HUGE consideration for me! I knew absolutely that there was no way in hell I could deal with a situation where I was required to be at my desk 9 to 5 every day, dress just so, behave just so, yada yada yada. hopefully this will be a good fit

Isn't it a beautiful song?!? It's as pleasant to play as it is to sing! 13 verses? There are hundreds between all the different variations of the song.
"Mary Hamilton" is one of the famous 'Child Ballads,' number 173 in fact. Francis James Child collected 305 English and Scottish ballads in ALL their variations! 'Mary Hamilton' as 28 completely different sets of lyrics! Like "Barbra Allen," (Child #84, which has over 300 different verses,) the song just flows along so sweetly...

Maybe refectory isn't the correct term, but it was the only word google translate offered. We call it a 'refter', but I guess 'place with tables and chairs where we eat our lunch' is more accurate
what, you're not a nun? how surprising

we call that specific place where people in the same school or company come to have meals is canteen. or a rougher translation, "eating house".

Believe it or not, I had to look it up. It is beautiful, and I didn't realize there were so many Child Ballads, either.

Well, a canteen to me is a place where you can buy food. It's what we call 'cafetaria'. We just have a room where we eat our own food. I'll keep calling it our refectory, and indulge Beppe's fantasies

Hmmm, so in order to meet my other half I have to become a nun ?

I think Beppe was refering to you asking him to tell you about his fantasies when I first told him about the refectory in the diet thread.
