I've heard that it works just fine. My skin is quite thick since it's protective...

I have it and it fits fine with a Decalgirl skin.

I love my Kindle 3 in its Dodocase, but I am wondering if anyone has advice on the best book light to buy for this configuration. It seems that the clip (or whatever mechansim) would have to clear more than half and inch to affix.

you might consider the mighty brite. I think it is slender enough to clip in the spine area, and with the gooseneck you can angle it to your reader

I am about to order my first kindle, am getting the kindle 1 as it sounds like the best fit for me. My question is about a cover. I love the cover where the light comes out of the corner, a friend has one on her kindle 3, but does it fit a kindle 1? I've looked all over trying to find this answer but can't.

welcome to the forums!

the K3 is a slightly different size and has special slots in the side for hooks to slide into that power the light. it wouldn't do you any good to have the K3 lighted cover for a K1

look through the different lights that have been posted and see what your ascetic reaction to each is. then think about what your reading environment is. do you often find yourself needing a light for pbooks? if so, which kind have you preferred? some people feel strongly about different light styles; some loathe the goosenecks, and others prefer them. it's really about personal preference. there have been a few lights that people have talked about the basic design flaws, pay attention to that. whittle your choices down and bounce them off us.

Thank you for this confirmation. I couldn't imagine that the clip on the Octovo Solis light would have such a precise fit that the thin Decal Girl skin would interfere with it, but you never know!

I also own the TravelFlex and love it. Best $12 I ever spent.

I had mine for about two years and the goose neck has not worn out yet. I also have the XtraFlex2 version but we use it as a night light it's too heavy for me to read with.

I have the Mighty Bright XtraFlex 2 and love it. Yes, it is heavier than the multitude of other lights I've owned but the screen coverage is perfect. Plus, I've used it as a nightlight and also on my laptop when I've had to use it in a darkened room.
