Heh, although I'm a woman I find it impossible to read a book and watch television at the same time. Although sometimes I press the mute button during commercial break so I can read a little. I'm usually not good at reading when there's too much noise.

That's true. I read mostly fantasy, and they're usually 400 to 700 pages. You could always do a page count at the end of the year. Or read xxx pages as a challenge, as Crusader is doing.

I can read through almost anything. When I'm really stuck into a book, even someone directly addressing me by name will have to say something more than once to get my attention.

On the other hand, there are times when I can be taken out of a book by a particularly good drama on TV or radio.

Where is the fun in this? It should be an challenge to me. Now I have an ereader and read more then the last years and I will see, how it goes. If I can do the challenge, with all the books, and time consuming other things (there are nice games out, for the pc sims and more), time will tell, how it will go.

Interesting that you can read and watch TV at the same time... however you state that you can't (won't) listen to an audio book while you drive.

I know I can't focus on both a TV show and a book. Of course, if it were The Weather Channel I guess I could. But, I watch stuff like CSI, NCIS, that you really have to pay attention to... if you don't, it is easy to loose what's going on.

I definitely can not read and watch TV at the same time, where as my husband can read at any time, any place, doing just about anything.

I never officially joined this challenge, although I did join one of my blog to read 100 ebooks this year. I've read 32, and one pbook I have a counter on my blog to keep track. Some of the books are relatively short, and some longer, but I'm not counting the books I read to my children.

It depends on what's on tv and what book I'm reading if I'm able to read and watch tv. When I'm really into a book I can read while the tv is on but I don't follow what's going on. Sometimes what's on tv is better than the book so I stop reading.

But regularly I find that I can both follow my book and what's on tv. Last week I annoyed my father by telling him what he'd missed from the current affairs program he was watching when he went to the kitchen. He couldn't believe I got that whilst reading a book.

My cousins and I call that "Book by the Pound," but I think we mainly mean the fantasy tomes that are pushing 1000. LOL.

My last read was Discovery of Witches which was fun. Think a better-written Twlight for grown-ups.

Anyway, I have joined this group, though I am woefully behind, unless graphic novels and/or audiobooks count, which I don't believe they do. If they do count, let me know. ;?)

I am now reading the first book I've read on my Kobo, Goblin Market bu Jennifer Hudock. It is .99 and is heavily influenced by Labyrinth and the Rosetti poem. I've got Pub Walks in Underhill Country, a library book next. After that, I feel I have to start American Uprising, about the 1811 slave revolt in Louisiana as one of my Greatx6 grandfathers figures prominently in it.

Maybe I've been reading too much urban fantasy or maybe it's just the juxtaposition of that and the "Goblin Market" book, but that title makes it look like you've checked out some sort of Lonely Planet/Rough Guide to drunken barcrawling in Elfland.

CSI is trivial to read through. They do a lot of the lab work where you can read through and it's mostly music.

The reason I don't like audiobooks while driving is that I actually prefer to pay attention to my driving.
