My family never really have gotten along with my father's side of the family. With the exception of two cousins they're all a bit full of themselves. On Saturday, however, my aunt sent a very funny email.

What she wanted to write:
I have become a grandmother again tonight (vannacht)

What she did write:
I have become a grandmother from behind (vanachter)

She probably forgot the second "n" in vannacht and her iPod correcter it, but it's a very funny autocorrect fail. Even my father had to laugh when reading it.

My mother, my sister and I were laughing and making jokes about it earlier tonight. A little later the phone rang and I joked it was my aunt, it really was her calling. None of us were in a state that picking up the phone would be a good idea without unleashing an inner-family war so we just let it ring.

Just got home from work. I'm eating a snack, then I'm going to change clothes and go clean my kitchen so I can make a nice dinner. Chris is back on overtime (which means he'll get off at 1 a.m.) Yes, I know we eat at odd times.

There should be a multilingual Damn you auto correct, it'd get much more interesting...

Well it all started last August, when the red phone hidden in my roommate's wardrobe rang. Clark, my roommate, was out. He had just been called by a kangaroo wearing a strange bat-hat, jumping around in the yard while chanting instructions to a very complex handshake that implied a very intricate selection of movements and the use of thirty six different, although similar, back flips.

I tried to ignore the phone for a while, but it got louder and louder. I did not know why it was ringing, nor who was calling, all I knew was that whenever Clark answered it he disappeared in a great big cloud of green and pink smoke, and reappeared nine days later with a slight limp and an eye patch. After about twenty minutes, the phone got so loud that my aunt's dog started to bark in Paris, so I resigned myself to risk my life just to preserve eardrums all over the country.

I had never before opened my roommate's closet (it's a privacy thing, I don't rummage in his bright nylon leggings collection, he leaves my gold studded leather underwear alone) so it took me a while to find the red phone among the piles of latex superhero masks and elbow radiographies, but I finally found it.

And then... well the rest is history!


Other than that, I've been mostly doing stuff, really.

I always go for a one-of-a-kind suitcase, because it's easy to spot at the airport and easy to describe when you've lost it.
