Great stuff as usual, swore I wouldn't ask stuff as Alpha but does loss of "via mount option" on 505 mean that old problem of memory size limit is back or new version of direct read works round it anyway... Quote:

Has anyone tested 2.0.10 on the PRS-350 yet? With the problems I've had, I'm thinking about reverting back and doing a clean install of the newest version, without Baroda (at least if I'm reading it correctly I won't need Baroda, correct?).

Ok, thank you it works. I put all my css files in the folder /database/system/PRSPlus/epub/ and removed the user.config file and all is ok. So now I wonder if there is no possibility to have a user.config or the directory in which put it is different?

On the contrary, if I put the css file in the directory you mentioned before without using user.config, all works. So, no problem, for me it is ok. Probably, having installed boroda,2.0.9, then 2.01.10, then universal flasher could have caused problems, but all I need works, so I prefer not make a clean install again.

ewandeep If you used ...setup.exe it has overwritten your original firmware, whatever it was. |

Dear Kartu and team, Am sorry to bother you, but now that the new installer is ready with baseflasher, can someone please explain how I should install it? Can I just copy the huge setup.exe to an SD card, insert the SD card, then it will run? Or should I connect my 950 to my computer, copy the huge setup file to the root directory of the 950. Then what do I do? Switch off then back on again? Or should I copy the file over to the 950 then click on it in windows explorer? Also I saw from an earlier answer the VS2008 redistributable was needed - I hope not. How would I implement this, or is it taken care of in your setup.exe file. I know you did great work but I wonder whether your setup instructions are now confusing since they seem to apply for the version without base flasher (whatever that is), and not your new setup.exe file? I am sorry to bother you but I dont want to brick my 950. I am very keen to be able to download files using wifi and then read them. My office laptop lacks an SD reader so I cant transfer files easily. It would be great to send files to gmail or dropbox then pick up on the 950. So I see many advantages to your software and appreciate your work. I was waiting for the selfcontained version and am grateful you wrote it, but please for newbies if you can give me really basic instructions that would be great, and perhaps put in the sticky and on the wiki guide too. Or is it best for me not to try given my lack of computer knowledge? Thanks for helping, I appreciate your efforts (and others in this forum) to write this software. Sorry for my ignorance. |

mgriffiths The install guide wiki page was updated. Basically with setup.exe you just start it, and follow instructions on the screen. Anyway it's smart enough that putting it into wrong place wont brick your reader. Basically the only (non programmatic) way to brick it that I could imagine would be by resetting the reader during flashing procedure. |

Dear Kartu, Thank you. So I connect my 950 using usb, copy the exe file over to the root (parent) directory, switch off the 950, switch on the 950, then the 950 boots up using your setup.exe file and that's it? Is it as simple as this? The wiki says this: 350 / 650 / 950 Simply use corresponding "...setup.exe". (Updates could also be installed manually by unpacking PRSPInstaller into internal memory and restarting the reader, as with 600. You will also need to unpack boroda or amutin launcher into internal memory, depending on firmware that you have.) The stuff in parentheses was hard to follow and I think applied to your earlier versions, when no base flasher. Thank you for your work - I know you did an incredible amount and may be tedious to go back and change all the instructions, also when you are writing for so many machines. best regards |

mgriffiths Connect the reader and run ...setup.exe from your PC. Stuff in parentheses is obviously for those, who are installing manually (not your case). PS If anyone has better wording for any part of any instruction, please, don't be shy. |
