[GUI Plugin] Kindle Collections (old)

Anyone else having issues with the resulting collections on the kindle not matching the details in the log after using the plugin?

For example, the results.txt file shows that I should have a collection named News with 16 entries. The collection is based on documents with the Tag 'News' (items downloaded from various News Sources in Calibre).

However, after I restart my kindle the News collection only has 1 article. The 15 other articles are on the Kindle but just listed as stand alone articles and not part of the collection?

Any ideas how to resolve the discrepancy?

I'm not sure what happens with back-issues though, as we're not really supposed to be able to put periodicals in collections...

If it also happens with other things than calibre's news source, the relevant part of the report for these items would be helpful .

Feeling n00b-ish at the moment...
Is the download of 1.4.1 available or not, I can't find a download link on the first post. Was wanting to download it and give it a try since the Kindle Collections Manager I tried isn't working with my fw 3.1.

I've temporarily removed 1.4.1 since it can't be run by new users. There will be a new release 'soon'.

Same here, but I think it works for us because we already have settings configurations from previous versions.

Makes sense - I was starting to wonder. I am sure meme will be able to work it out for everyone. This is such a great plug-in - hope everyone is able to take advantage of it.

Kindle Collections 1.4.2 is available. See the first post in this thread to download it.

Thanks to everyone who has tried the plugin, and especially to those who have reported issues and asked questions.

This release fixes the issue with new users being unable to save customizations and run the plugin, along with fixes for minimum book counts, encoding issues, allowing collections with the same name to be created if they have different prefixes/suffixes, and importing the author_sort setting from previous releases.

It also includes a check for News items that won't show up in collections.

Thanks - making the change from PDOC to News in the Output options did the trick exactly as hoped.

Now all today' latest Calibre-generated Newsfeeds are all correctly in my "_News" collection AND also in the author collection for "calibre" Great !

I just saw meme has updated to version 1.4.2 - I hope his News check doesn't undo your suggested fix - because I really like Calibre newsfeeds in their own collection. I don't have any Amazon Periodical/Newsfeeds - I guess that is what meme is now checking for.

Question: Can I consolidate collections?

My |>Honor Harrington (12), & |>Worlds of Honor (4) Series collections are both part of my |>>Honorverse (20) Series Info collection, therefore I do not need them. I tried putting the names of both series in quotations under ignore, but that did not work. How do I consolidate, combine ire delete the two that i do not need, while keeping (|>>Honorverse (20)) the one that I want?

I am now getting the following warning on my catalog mobi book which I created, I tried changing from [PDOC] to [News], [Catalog], Catalog and News. Any idea what I need to change it to to stop the warning? BTW, the plugin is doing what it is supposed to but I want to prevent this book from showing up as a warning since it can not go into any collections.

WARNING:

This book on the Kindle cannot appear in any collections on the Kindle because the book information is not set correctly. Try reconverting/resending the book. If this is a News feed, check Preferences->Output Options->Mobi output and set "Personal doc tag" to a tag you are using for the news feed, e.g. "News" (To use a tag other than "News", also set the News feed tag: open the specific news feed and add the tag to "Extra tags" under Advanced tab:

Don't put quotes around them. Use the name exactly as it appears in Calibre. If the "|>" is in Calibre's Series name then keep it, but if its a prefix in the plugin, don't type in. Try preview and test.
