Just the same old question - when and oh when is the 15.3 version for the pb360 going to be available - hopefully with a working pdf viewer ???????

Also should we install fbreader for this upgrade and if so which version and config file?

Does it work relatively well no?

Thanks

15.3 and 14.2 are both available at http://pocketbook.de/support/pocketbook-360/. Which one is better? I am using 14.2 now and do not want to update unless the new version is at least as stable as 14.2. There have been problems in the past.

14.2 is a publically release firmware. 15.3 is still in beta testing as far as I know and there have been some known issues with it.

I am using 15.3 and haven't had a problem, but I ONLY use FBReader. I hear there are problems with Adobeviewer (I think).

It's up to you, if you're happy with 14.2, stay with it.

I'm happy enough with it, except that I wish the reset button was more accessible. I have to reset after turning it on (it sticks on the "Bookland" page) quite often.

I don't have the Bookland page, is that the photo with the stack of books? If so, you can go into the settings and change it so that you never go to that screen. I've got mine set to display the last read page at shutdown (I think that's the setting) and to show the last read page at the logo screen.

Also, I never turn my reader off. There is no point really. I'm probably using a little more battery than if I turned it off every time I read, but I'm not really noticing it. I read for hours every day and one charge is lasting me at least a week, usually more.

With the 15.3 beta firmware and FBReader, I'm having zero problems from the moment I installed it, and I haven't had to use the reset button once.

Forkosigan has posted links to a new version ( 2.0.5). Unfortunately I couldn't find the changelog yet, so I'm not sure it will be of interest to the english speaking community but i will keep you updated.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=758

Edit:
changelog was stored in the zip archive and not on the webpage

New firmware available: 2.0.6 (at least for my 903).

Goto: Configuration -> maintainance -> Software update.

It said for me: there is a new version.. I'm installing it right now. Will keep you posted.

I read now the changelog of 2.0.5
Most of it, is just bla bla, like: changed/added an icon, translated a word.. and so on

This is the result of 3 or 4 month of hard development of a programmer team specialized on ebook readers.

The joke goes on, stay tuned!

I have also just updated to 2.0.6, but I cannot seem to find a changelog.

Hi Troll,
that is for version 2.0.5. What I a mreferring to is version 2.0.6, which, as review said, you can get by going into "Configuration -> maintainance -> Software update" after you have updated to version 2.0.5. Version 2.0.6 is downloaded automatically on your device (you have to have a working internet connection), and installed. However as far as I could see there is no changelog dowloaded - I'll play around with it, but if somebody has any info, it would be great to know.
p.s.
make sure you remove the swupdate.bin file of the version 2.0.5 before you check for the new update, otherwise the system might re-flash 2.0.5.

@paola:
wrote yesterday in the german thread that it seems to be just a proof of concept. There is no actual 2.0.6 software. it is just for testing this feature. To proof that go into configuration -> about . you will see 2.0.5 (but with a different date, not 10March but 11 March). So you can repeat the update process to 2.0.6 an infinite number of times. after doing it two to three times I noticed that there is no 2.0.6 it's probably just for internal tests so that the developers could check if it works.
There is however a changelog for 2.0.6. You can see it right before you begin the download of the update. When it says: there is a new version available it will also give an option to a button called "more information" with this button you will get the changelog (which was in this case: minor bug fixes).

many thanks review, I've just go over all the steps you wrote about (namely repeating the update a number of times, since in the "about" window I still had 2.0.5., though as you say with a different date), and was about to ask questions, but you've answered before I even put them

One thing though, now in the main home window I have a blank square, while I am pretty sure that with the "real" 2.0.5 had a link to the bookstore - I do not need it, but I wonder if there are missing features with this "fake" update.

EDIT: @Troll - please ignore my previous message, there is no 2.0.6 firmware as such!

Sounds like they changed the calculator in this new 2.0.5 version. Exactly what we were looking for

And, more interesting: the keyboard design has been changed, with some new options (like the possibility to see the letters of a password instead of ****) and it seems to me that the letters you type are refreshing more quickly... But maybe it's only an impression? No "flash" of the keys would have been much better anyway!

Like troll said : the joke goes on...
