humans are so selfish. it's a sad fact. :| i think this is why we're all doomed to violent deaths o_o

(it's late and i'm getting emotional over the talk of bookstores vs. cheaper online stores. course we're all (including me) looking for the best deal as customers, but i can't help but remember a discussion in class way back when when our prof talked about the japanese buying their own rice even if it is more expensive just to support their farmers. it's nice that they care enough for their own to do that.)

Slightly associated....

There was an article in the Denver Post this past week about the "Forbes Richest men in the world" In Colorado we have a few billionaires -- one being Charlie Ergen the founder of Echostar/Dish. He's #2 behind Anshutz in Colorado with a personal fortune of $7 billion. I just find these numbers astonishing and did some calculating. Echostar has some 2400 employees worldwide. Charlie could give every one of his employees $2.5 million each and still have $1 billion left for himself.

Friggin' astonishing!

I'm sure there would be those. I certainly gained significant respect for Bill Gates when he set up his foundation (and got Warren Buffet to contribute as well).

I did too. And I gained even more respect for Buffet since he donated to the Gates Foundation rather than make his own, which would have been bigger press for him but a less effective use of the money.
