That's one pricey TV. My only TV is a 7" WS LCD (that's right, a whopping seven inches). If I were to ever get a larger one, I'd definitely hang it on the wall.

7inch is THE PERFECT ereader screen size. Tablet hmm I go back and forth, I thin overall I like the 10inch screen size form factor. but for reading I'm with you 7inch is the perfect size.

Yes, a 7" ipad would be great! The iPad now is great but a little big for me, as the whole thing is about it being portable

I think 7" in good for a basic reader, but for most textbooks, I think 12" - 14" would be better. I just ordered an iPad while still waiting for Kno to ship (if they ever ship). This way I can at least try out the 9.7" screen and see if it'll work for me.

I suppose it's what you plan to port. For me, it's textbooks. Considering I have textbooks that are over 6 lbs., weight is a huge consideration. Anything half that size and under that can carry "all" of my books would be wonderful!

You might look into the 7" HTC Flyer that's coming out. It would be my ideal tablet if it was 12-14" which I hope they'll bring out within a year.

For a 12.1" screen your best bet is the Asus EP 121. A core i5 windows 7 tablet with full Wacom support. Wonderful in every respect except battery life -- which for text books should be around 4-4.5 hours. You could, of course, get one of those external extension batteries.

The only problem is that they have greatly underestimated demand but cannot make enough of them and there always is a waiting list at Amazon and at the MS Store. This is a real powerful computer, so this unit is more expensive than a tablet, though.

The Kno has been canceled, I read somewhere. They company quit the hardware business after shipping just a few hundred units and now they are just selling licenses for textbooks to other companies.

The Asus is almost there, but for the price that Asus is asking, there are a few things that I would change. First and foremost would be battery life. Realistic battery life is 3 hours, possibly pushed to 3.5, but that's way too short for a tablet, IMHO. I'd also prefer the N-trig with palm rejection instead of Wacom.

I have a friend who also has a preorder in for the Kno who bought the EP121 and is either selling it or returning it. Knowing that I wouldn't have to wait, and could just buy it from him, I seriously thought about it, but felt like I would be settling. If I'm going to settle, I may as well get an iPad for half the price, which is the tablet, that my friend told me, he uses the most. So... I just ordered an ipad.

As for the Kno, who knows what's going on w/ them. I last heard that they were selling their hardware division, which was one week after they called and said that shipment was delayed an additional 60 days. I've been waiting for my Kno since Xmas. If it ships, I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep it and sell the iPad. If it doesn't, at least I'm not sitting around waiting for it.

BTW, they didn't ship any units, they just "said" that they did. I haven't found a single pre-order on the net that got their unit. And one of their former employees said that he wasn't able to keep his, so... I doubt there are any in the wild right now.

And they sent me a shirt! Ha! Nice rag, that will be!

Your friend can always sell the EP121 to me (if it is the 4GB RAM/64GB SSD version). The 3 hours battery life should be for video streaming over WiFi, not for regular work. The price is really not expensive for a computer with these specs --- you can't compare it to an iPad or an Android tablet, you must compare it to a MacBook. The question is, do you need the extra power.

As far as the "palm problem", an easy solution is to turn off the touch screen when you are using the pen.

It is "settling" to some extent. The new SandyBridge processors should almost double the battery life, then it would be the no compromise solution. If I had an EP 121 I would take an external battery with me.

My "settling" is someone else's "perfect". I want it just for textbooks and note taking. I suppose I could turn the Wacom off, but knowing that I almost had/have a Kno with palm rejection makes me want to hold out.

I think he does have the 64GB. If your seriously interested, send me a PM with your email and I'll get it to him.

Whatever you do, don't use it as a rag. It will be a nice keepsake (of your great times with the Kno folk ) - SORRY - But seriously, get a photo of you in it. Add some comment in the image. "Does anyone Kno the Shipping Date" and email it to them.
Or think of some other witty remarks. There's gotta be heaps with a name like Kno.
