An Australian Thinking about Pocketbook 701 IQ I need help!!
Gidday, I have been putting off and putting off getting an ereader, I keep thinking to myself "Wait a few months and something will pop out at me", but I am tired of waiting.
I read at night only so i assume i would be better off with a backlit LCD ? I keep coming back to the 701 IQ Does it allow you to do things as well like checking emails, surfing the net, does it play things like youtube (flv's) ?? I believe it has a colour screen? I only read Non-Fiction History books. Is there a supplier out there that has it at a reasonable price and with reasonable postage to AUSTRALIA? I see PB's site has them at a great price but they dont ship to OZ (Bugger!). I used the link on this site to help me choose and it kept saying the 701IQ should suit me, do you agree? Please help I really need to know if the Pocketbook IQ701 is OK especially for night reading, also where can I buy one at the best price with reasonable postage to Australia? Thankyou so much for your time, from a grateful Ozzie ![]() Please help ![]() |

Hi! I've the Pocketbook IQ 701. Hope that my replies will be helpful.
I bought the IQ 701 in December last year. The backlit LCD is very useful for reading in a dark room. You can adjust the brightness easily. I've not used it for checking emails but it connects to my home wifi network with no problems after I've configured it. You can also surf the net with the included browser which is similar to the default browser in most Android phones. You can't play Youtube videos out of the box but you could download apps or the Skyfire browser which allows you to play flash videos. I've tested Skyfire and it works well for Youtube. Yes, the IQ 701 has a full colour screen and I love reading full colour comics on it. If your History books are in pdf format, they should be readable on the IQ. You could also download various free apps for reading pdf files. Other ebook file formats can be read using either the included Reader app or other Android apps such as Aldiko which you can download for free (legally). I bought my IQ from Dulin's Books (http://www.dulinsbooks.com/). I believe they can ship to anywhere in the world. I would recommend a visit to their website. |

![]() This reader seems to be what I am after, as I said all my reading is done in bed with low light. I have had a look at dulinsbooks but they sell it for $169-99 plus $45-00 postage that takes me to $215-00 US Dollars and I didnt know if this unit was worth $215-00?? I am really struggling to find any one else who sells to OZ. I did find another seller but their postage was around $80-00 !!!! I like the 7" screen (as my name suggests, my eyesight is letting me down). Am I just being stin-gy or is this worth $215-00? |

Guys: pop over to the Pocketbook Forum. Plenty of PB IQ/701 info there to help you decide. There's also quite a few aussie PB owners.

I will say also that Dulin's Books has very good service, and their shipping charges for the Pocketbooks are the most reasonable I've seen. It's a pity you didn't ask earlier, otherwise I'd suggest you consider strongly at the Nook Color too. It was recently selling on eBay for $200, $50 off, and with mail forwarding, the entire bundle cost about $240 for a similar 7" Android tablet but with a superior screen. I'm aware of a fair few Aussies who recently took advantage of this deal. |
