@test011: As usual with this kind of issue, does using a freetype override (with CJK fonts, I'd say autohint would give the best results) help?

@kirrus: There's another readme in the usbnet packages, but other than that, the scripts themselves, and a few posts scattered here and there, not much no. But it's basically a SSH server and a bunch of basic tools, so there's nothing really specific to the Kindle platform there to document.

Rotation of Screensaver
I just tried the SS hack and it's awesome! I also found a link on a website that is a Kindle Screen Saver generator that can turn graphics you have into a black and white kindle screensaver! Very handy and didn't have to do it by myself.
http://charles-reace.com/kindle_screensaver.php Question: Is it possible to get the screensavers to rotate randomly while in sleep mode so it is not stuck on one image until it goes to sleep again? If this was asked already, I apologize, I just didn't have the time to scroll through 100 pages of responses. If that's the case, you can just direct me to the particular thread. Thank you! @mysteryoustrvlr: No, we need a framework restart to change the list of screensavers used.
(I guess we could be tricky and shuffle images around while keeping the same file names, but that's ugly, and I'm not even sure it would work, and it would take a bit more tinkering than what the hack currently does to implement anyway). And if you were talking about switching images *during one single sleep period*, then, no, not possible at all. For all intent and purposes, the kernel is in hibernation, so we can't really do anything, and that would defeat the whole point of the suspend anyway ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-06-2011 at 05:23 PM. |

Another round of updates:
ScreenSavers v0.20.N: * Updated fallback whitelist (Err, I'm not even sure if that wasn't already in .19.N... ![]() Fonts v4.4.N: * Updated fallback whitelist * Updated FT libs * Fixed rendering bugs with the light ft override (in the Symbols popup, the Note edit popup, and address bars, among other things) which effectively makes this setting usable ^^. Actually, there's quite a few interesting stuff happening in FreeType right now, there's been a few rendering fixes, and some new stuff, especially in the 'light' build, so there may be some significant improvement in rendering 'quality' ![]() |

@murali: No, FreeType is a font rendering engine, not an OpenType layout engine.

Hi, NiLuJe.
I feel like after I update I was impressed by recently K2 update 2.5.8, it make my K2 page turning faster. But after I update your Font Hack from 4.3 to 4.4, I feel that page turning speed not fast as I used to be. Is it possible? So, I just wondering that is it possible for me to revert Font Hack back to version 4.3? Because it want to verify page turning speed on Font Hack 4.3 and 4.4. @tekkasit: I suppose if you uninstall fonthack 4.4 and then re-install 4.3 you can't go wrong.

@tekkasit: Unless you're using an ft override, absolutely *nothing* changed, so downgrading won't change anything. If you *are* using an FT override, then, yes, there may have been a very slight performance loss (the extent of that performance hit probably varies between FT configs and fonts, and the root of that issue will get fixed by the FT guys in the next few weeks).
In any case, you can downgrade easily, just install the previous version on top of the current one, no need to uninstall anything ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-08-2011 at 07:42 PM. |

Thanks NiLuJe.
Yes, you right. My K2 using 'bci' rendering option with K3 Original Fonts. After you suggested, I changed the option to 'autohint', the rendering speed became fast as it used to be. Million thanks. PS. I will try this option again with your next Font Hack version with 'improved FT'. Last edited by tekkasit; 03-08-2011 at 09:51 PM. |
