Streaming movies
Who is streaming movies via either NetFlix, Blockbuster Online, Amazon Video On Demand or Cinema Now? Who is not streaming from netflix? My family watches a lot of movies each month and therefore we do not download from Blockbuster Online, Amazon Video On Demand or Cinema Now, I don't know if anyone else has a all you can eat streaming business.

Why did you chose that service over one of the others?

Netflix because it has a MASSIVE catalog of old titles that I like very much. I've gotten way more than my money's worth out of that subscription over the years.
Amazon VOD for one or two seasons of a (then) currently running show because I wanted to try it out. It's too buggy for me and I can't stand DRM for purchases. Since I think DRM is quite fair for rentals and Netflix has the best pricing in that sector, I went with Netflix. I had Blockbuster OD for a while but their catalog (2 years ago at least) was laughable. Maybe it's better now (I dunno). Netflix's recommendation system also works great for me and I've discovered numerous nice shows that way. It's a little slow to get new shows and movies but they get there eventually (in one form or another) to not have the delay matter to me too much. Overall, I'm very happy with it (and I cut the cable 5 years ago). |

I use Netflix and Hulu. I have cancelled cable all together. Looked at getting an Amazon Prime account but their catalog is not big enough now to seriously consider it.

What about Directv's 6000 movies on demand? We have Directv but we have an older machine so we don't get that service

My parents have Directv. Does it really have such a huge library?

That sounds like a DVR feature. I have DirecTV, but I haven't heard of that (nor do I use their DVR -- I prefer TiVo.) "On Demand" seems to be a DVR type thing.
My husband has Netflix and he watches movies often. I'm backlogged and I tend to just watch whatever shows I have saved (just watched a commercial for Black Friday -- from last November) on the DVR, although I would like to use Netflix if I ever had the time to sit and watch something longer than 45 minutes. ![]() |

If Australia has a legitimate streaming on demand business, I am not familiar with it.
I know pay TV has pay-per-view however. I don't use iTunes on a regular basic to know if you buy such things through them either. |

Yes it's a DVR thing, it's like having netflix built in, though you do need to be hooked up to WiFi on your DVR. Just wondering if anyone has this, and I think that Directv still has the promotion of free DVR for paying customers

We have Netflix and love it. We get 1 disk out at a time and alternate between kids movies and our movies. Anytime we want to watch a movie the streaming is there for us and the selection is pretty good. For $8 a month you really can't beat it.

We are primarily using Netflix (like Shack70, we are now on the 1-disk plan), but we have recently used Amazon once or twice.
Our favorite benifit w/ Netflix is being able to stream via the X-Box and the Wii. I don't see us changing anything anytime soon. Edit: We also have DirecTV, but we do not use the VOD option. |
