As far as kindle nuisances go, it's a terribly minor one.

I'm surprised they don't have a bunch of ads for other books. Or a "if you enjoyed this book, you may also like..." page. Or book trailers. "In a world without hope or mercy, one wizard..."

don't forget these are the generations of "awarding" participation ribbons and stuff like 9th place trophies. So it makes sense that these "the wonder of me" sites are so popular. Nobody was taught that it's fine not to win but also you get nothing for doing so. Learning to lose is as important as learning to win.

So let's all send those LOOK AT ME I READ A BOOK tweets and facebook posts.

I wold trade this intrusion for eBooks that are priced at a fair and reasonable price.

NOT for eBooks with the ridiculous prices we see from the Agency 6 Publishers and supplied ready nobbled and restricted in how I use and access them.

For the Indie eBooks I buy and enjoy I would have no problem accepting this feature at the END.

Well... the end is exactly where it appears. You only see it if you either:

a. Press "Page Forward" once you get to the end of the book.
or:
b. Select "Menu" - "Go To" - "End".

I just don't see why this is big deal. If you don't like it, ignore it, or don't continue to page forward when you reach 99% and it's obvious the book is over. Nobody is forcing you to participate or even look at the page, and it doesn't intrude upon reading the actual book.

This is exactly why I haven't updated to 3.1. There isn't anything in it that is an upgrade - only new ways for them to sell to you.

Make no mistake, the "social media" feature isn't the main point for Amazon, it's the "Customers who bought this book also bought..." They've planted an ad at the end of the book, and none of us have made a fuss because we're all looking at the shiny page numbers and the tweety-features.

cebook posts.
Dont remind me
In a small midwestern town, my niece was 1 of 11 valedictorians in her graduating class. When it came time for their speeches, half the class tromped up on stage! Do they really think there was not a single worthy student, or were they afraid to tell some kid they lost by a fraction?

Which is neither here nor there for the original topic. Thus far the Kindle app does not have that page at the end of books. It will probably be there in the next upgrade, i betcha.

Wow. Its called an "option" as in its optional. I don't use it even though I love "bragging to my friends" when I'm done with a book. I choose to "brag" by posting on GoodReads and allowing my post to go to my Face Book page.
I'm amazed at the things people allow themselves to get upset about.

Interestingly I tried this feature and didn't get an update on either my Twitter or Facebook page. The book wasn't bought from Amazon but was purchased from Baen. This leads me to wonder if only books available on Amazon get shared? If this is the case I guess it would generate advertising in my feed for Amazon.

Does anyone know if when you share the fact you've finished a book the resulting Facebook entry includes a link back to Amazon's page for that title?

EDIT: I just read in another thread that this feature only works in the US. Is that the case? If so I guess that's why nothing showed up.
