Just like before, you need to disable hack updates to install/upgrade. Sorry.

You need one of the jailbreaks, either the first message in this thread should have a link, or the font/screensaver hack thread has another jailbreak. Download the zip file and extract the one for your 3g version.

Place the BIN file on your kindle when you connect it to your computer. Then press Home, Menu, select Settings, press menu again and select restart.

Do the same procedure with the screensaver or font hack, zip, extract the proper bin, place on the root of kindle and restart.

When FF2 asked about installing over a previous version of the jailbreak, he also asked about the jailbreak blocking further Amazon upgrades. Does the "Nope" apply to both? Given the effects of the 3.1 update, I'd like to be able to block Amazon updates until people have had a chance to look at them.

Ok, let me be clearer.

1) You do NOT have to uninstall any hacks that you installed after jailbreaking on 3.1
2) You DO have to DISABLE hack updates by deleteing the file (and restart)
3) After upgrading the jailbreak, you will be able to use any update or hack, no need to make a blank text file or restarting.

Thanks for the clarification. (3) sounds like both Amazon updates and Hacks install with equal ease, even though different keys are used for each.

Yes, it's basically just NiLuJe's jailbreak minus the whitelist. The whole jailbreak is completely transparent.

Don't know if this should be included in this forum but, is there a new reginfo update for 3.1. I can't get wifi in the desert and I would like to unlock my new kindle to create some collections for my books. I have installed the jailbreak already. Thanks for your time and assistance.

I remained with 3.0.2 firmware and now I don't want to upgrade 3.1.

I have installed new 0.4 Jailbreak (thanks Yi Fan Lu) and new SS hack. How could I prevent automatic upgrade to 3.1, if the ENABLE_HACK_UPDATES method had been removed from hack?

In my Kindle have your jailbreak (0.4), and an old 3.0.2 firmware. Does in work with dsmid's solution correctly? I really don't want to make a mistake.

That was for 0.3 of the jailbreak.
