Second Nespresso of the day, I'm finally starting to wake up a little. We had to have our picture taken at work today, so now that's over I can finally relax. At least the photographer didn't tell me to smile at the camera. It's way to early to smile

By the way, my dietitian praised me yesterday for my good 'drinking habits'. She said she rarely met people who drink that much before they start a diet. Hooray for me

in my cup: nothing. I'm too lazy to go downstair this late. Chocolate cookies are way better.

now, the rant. No, it's not, it's me telling the others' stories.

1. There are 2 journalists. They were in the same class in university and that was how they met. She was smart and beautiful, he was tall and handsome and clever. How easily to deduce that they were in love, a love so strong that it went on 7 years and became the reason they got married despite the disagreement of the girl's parents. Their marriage was wonderful: their daughter was 6, their son was 1, she was a successful journalist and he was on his way to the chief editor's chair. Then, all of a sudden, he betrayed his wife: she saw him meeting another woman and just like that, their marriage came to the hardest time. They didn't divorce because their kids were still small, so they lived on different floors in the same house and never talked - even if they did, they shouted at each other.

2. There are 2 people living far away in 2 cities. They met online, and fell in love. Hah, of course their families didn't approve: how could they know it was true love? What if it was some kind of crush? Anyway, they managed to take some flights, met and talked and got married because they all thought he/she was the one. Now they're tired of each other and this is the right part that kid steps in: they don't want to divorce because the child is small. Imagin looking at the face you lost all the interest for years.

3. There is this young girl. She was arranged to marry a guy whom she hardly knew. He turned out to be the bad guy: he gambles (and loses), plays cards (also loses) and only stays at home, living on his wife's income. He hits her sometimes, when he's pissed off. When he was on a "business" trip he was cheated by some prostitutes and went home with debts. And their children are also burdens: the elder son is 24 and still in university, still asks his mother for money. The smaller kid is 13, naughty and gets bad grades at school, and is an airhead. She don't dare divorce because she's so scared of the husband. Where's the happiness in life?

And this idea about 'the other half'. Suppose I would love him so much that I would want to marry him, I'm still troubled. Based on many unhappy endings that I know, people love, get married, the so-called love ends. How can I know that I can love that other half despite all the obstacles, that our love stays trong for years and I'm not tired of looking at the same face for such a long time? I don't want to play 'try and fail', I don't want to get divorced. And many of you said 'it would come' - yeah, suppose it would, but how can I know it is the genuine one, not 'made in China'? What if I fall for Mr. Wrong and marry him before Mr. Right appears?

There isn't one "other half" out there for you. There are many potential ones.



1:58 to 2:20 is particular relevant I think. (& it's all funny!)

As for judging when any particular man is Mr Right, you can only do your best. I'd suggest that you consider his general behaviour, not just his behaviour towards you while you're dating.

Sure there are many bad examples, but many good ones as well. Bottom line: unless you can look into the future, you won't know whether you'll stay with this person the rest of your life. People change. Relationships change. But ask yourself this: what if you find your knight in shining armour, but don't marry him because you're scared he's not the one and you want to keep on looking ? Wouldn't that be worse than finding out after a couple of years maybe it isn't meant to be ?

And oh: if you don't want to get divorced ... don't get married
