iPad Would you change or return your current iPad for the iPad2?

Isn't the browsing speed increase a software change that would also apply to 4.3 on the original ipad?

Where did you see about the double ram, is that just assuming it will catch up to the iphone 4 as I didn't see it listed anywhere.

Apple has so far not listed any RAM specifications.
All the sites suggest that they doubled the RAM. I guess we will have to wait until March 11 to know exactly how much RAM it has. I guess the guys at ifixit will buy one and have a look at its guts (as usual)

I wouldn't change my current iPad with the given specs for iPad2. I already have iPhone 4 so no need to get another facetime device.

I will however upgrade my iPad when iPad 3 is released as it will most likely have a better retina(?) display.

I still hope tho that garage band will also work on iPad 1

I also voted no. Not enough new features for me to jump. I'll happily wait for 3rd or even 4th edition and will hand mine down to my husband not sell.

If anyone just bought an iPad -- and it's within the "you can return it" time period -- RETURN IT! Get the newer better iPad -- no additional cost. That's a no-brainer.

For me, no. I'm not planning on getting the iPad 2. My job is likely going to get one for me so I'll wait and see. If that wasn't the case, and I could get $300 for my existing iPad, then sure. I'd probably pony up the $200 for the newer, faster, thinner, lighter iPad.

I already have an iPhone 4 so the cameras are not a big seller for me.

Frankly, though, I've never found my existing iPad to be slow. A refurbished iPad can be had for $349 for those looking for a bargain.

I'm an "every other generation" type of guy.

My wife has her eyes on my iPad instead of a laptop/e-reader so if she decides that she wants one we'll probably get a 3G model for me as I need the connectivity and she'll take mine. But we sure won't be waiting in any lines to get one.

I thought this was going to be a big update; seems there may be truth to the rumour of a September iPad 3 release.
No graphical update (retina), no new outstanding features except slightly lighter, thinner and a tad faster.
I certainly don't regret the original iPad now; i thought i might after the iPad 2 announcement, but it was really a bit of a non-event

I imagine it's more than software, seeing as the iPad 2 is sporting a dual core processor.

a dual core processor is only useful when

- you have software that supports two cores
- you have an OS with true multitasking

Number one will come at some time. Right now its a non issue.
Number two is probably not the case until Apple really changes its OS. I guess iOS 5 could do this.

As for Safari, the forthcoming iOS 4.3 will change some parts in Safari and its supposed to run faster because of this. Apparently all devices running 4.3 will benefit

I am looking forward to iOS 4.3 for my iPad 1 next week

The fact that all devices will benefit from the Safari update in general doesn't automatically preclude it from including that crucial dual core support for the iPad 2.
