That could be a problem - my Sleestak is very rusty.

Good point about tablets versus dedicated ebook readers.
If I were to buy a tablet (and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out this year) I wouldn't be doing much, if any, ebook reading on it. I've tried out text on iPads, and I like my e-ink screen a lot better. I'd only use the tablet as a reader when for some reason I couldn't have my Sony 505 with me. And yet I'm a voracious reader. So we can't really assume that any significant number of iPad purchasers are reading any given number of ebooks on them if someone like me -- already an avid ebook reader -- doesn't plan to do so. |

I liked reading on the Touch 4 and it's super cool "Retina" display but really was not blow away, in fact kinda let down when I borrowed a friends iPad for an hour. It was a, well, just average as far as LCD's go. As in nothing I haven't seen before. So while I can certainly see maybe owning a Touch 4 again, I don't see me wanting an iPad given the other options in devices of that size or larger.
What I really hope is the Asus EP121 is not a mediocre display for the $1.1 Mega-buck list price. If the panel is just "...eh" I won't likely give it a 2nd thought either at that price anyway. |

Over the last quarter of 2010 Android tablets took 22% of of the tablet market from Apple, and that's before true Android tablets were released. This year we'd expect to see that swing continue. Over the last quarter of 2010 Android phones were outselling iPhones globally by about 2:1. I would also suggest that the smaller form factor of many Android tablets is more suitable for reading ebooks, as they are lighter and more portable, and as yet Apple doesn't have a competitor in that 6" to 7" market. Also people who buy dedicated reading devices are surely likely to buy a lot more books than people who buy a multi-purpose tablet or phone? I can see the iBookstore being a player in the ebook market, but I can't see it becoming dominant. Graham |

@graham: same here. at least for me, apple still has to work out the geo restrictions with the publishers, because if they take out the other reading apps, ibookstore is as useful to me as garbage.

Improving their bookstore will be a relatively meaningless move unless you make the inaccurate assumption that ios devices will eventually outnumber the total of dedicated readers, pcs, macs, android tablets and phones, blackberry tablets and phone, webos phones and tablets, windows phones etc. because the crucial strength of the kindle or the nook is the accessibility of the content across multiple platforms whereas the ibookstore locks you into just ios device without even a desktop client.
