I just looked at Verizon's site and only see two prices, not the third. And I don't recall what they Costco/Verizon pricing was: Full Retail Price $799.99 PRICE with 2-Year contract $599.99 The Costco guy had a chart that showed two data plans. Creating 3-tier pricing. |

True. I got the 3GB/Mo plan and it was $150 off not $200 off which was for the 5+ GB Plan But there was also a rebate of $35 for the activation. |

But at least they are offering the Xoom sans a plan. I mean computer companies tried this with desktops and even laptops from time to time and it failed every time. I suspect people will eventually come to feel the same about plans with their tablets once they start adding 2-5/household and tethering is slowly removed as an option form your cell plan under the guise of needing to conserve bandwidth due to the "proliferation" of all those tablets. Of course the cell plans will increase in price as well. Man did I wake up on the wrong side of cranky this AM or what? Can't wait to read some threads about experiences with the Xoom over the next few months. Helps learn what to look for in the devices I am considering.

can't wait to see the speed test betweent the two, the Xoom vs the first iPad wasn't a fair match, Xoom destroyed it. iPad 2 should be a better competition. Still no flash, no usb, no micro SD, and still the same boring rows of tiles and the UI designed for teens and grandparents. hurry up taxes I'm ready to Xoooooooooooooooom. |

Yes, user reviews will be helpful. I see that Verizon is also strongly suggesting phasing out their unlimited plans for the new iphones. I'm still on Blackberry with unlimited but most months I use much less than unlimited but I don't trust them if I move to a smaller plan.

But back to your point, the kicker is that if Motorola had set the price even 100 dollars lower they would have eliminated many complaints about price and created that much more an attractive product.

September 159 October 172 November 166 December 277 January 118 My data usage rounded up to the nearest MB since September. December we had a storm which knocked out my cable internet for the better part of a week, so the phone was tethered a fair bit. Luckily, my provider allows tethering at no additional cost. Just comes off your bandwidth allowance like any other usage.

A lot of users don't care about the RAM, the processor speed or even the screen, for many Apple users is it all about the image and prestige - the functionality is often a secondary consideration. This means that whatever the Xoom or its counterparts are capable of they will generally lose out to the 'consumer' market pull of Apple. Personally, I take function over looks.......maybe thats because I'm so damned ugly myself lol! |

My biggest use was a 3 week period when I was in Europe and 3 of us used it for email and lots of web browsing. I think I was 2-3gigs.
