new to forum - new ebook reader

Hi there, just got my new samsung galaxy tab and came across this forum because i want to start reading ebooks. We are currently located in Germany but I am going to the states in a week. So trying to prepare for the long trip. I am looking forward to learning from you all here. Unfortunately, I am not sure if I can be of help since this is all Greek to me.

Since you have a tablet PC not a stand alone reader you will be in my part of the electronic book world so here is what I have learned in a short period of time:

As far as I have been able to tell there are four electronic book stores that make reader software available for alternative reading devices such as a blackberry and/or tablet they are: MobiPocket, Amazon, Barns and Nobles and Borders. The readers are a free download for anyone using alternative readers, what you will need to know is what operating system (OS) your tablet works on, I belive yours is Android. You will need to download the appropriate version of the reader software for your OS. On this forum there is a section for alternative reading devices, this is where you meet others that are using tablets as readers and can help others and get help from others for reading on tablets. I am reading on a Blackberry Storm and I am frequently in that forum as a blackberry is considered to be an alternative device.

Don't you worry, look around on MR a bit, for example on the WIKI (top of the page) or at the free , good formatted, classic ebooks and on the forum for Android (top of the page: forum). We all had to start from scratch.

i have a craig tablet android 2. i am new a this i want to put in a reader i was trying kobo but i get this phone is not listed for installation. is there a better reader to install. i really want to use this a a reader as well. i do have a reader (astak) but i like this craig thanks for any help

Hi birdy_s and welcome to MR. The fun is only just beginning. eBooks are a wonderfully portable (and most often affordable) venue for avid readers. Each day you will learn something new about your ereader, and if you're stumped, this is where a lot of expertise resides. Friendly people from all over. Bon voyage.

Welcome to the forum. I have learned quite a bit here. Download the Kindle and Nook apps. That way you can buy books or use Calibre to convert books. You can find a bunch here.
