How many US states are larger than the United Kingdom (in area) and how many have a larger population?

I believe the population answer is "none of them". The area I'll leave to Poohbear, because I'm feeling too lazy to look it up (and I don't know).

Isn't California quite big? (I know Alaska and Texas are the two biggest, but I get vague about the order after that).

Correct, none of the states have a population greater than the UK. California is the most populous state with just over 37m inhabitants. The UK has a population of almost 62m.

Montana is correct, as are Texas, Alaska and California. They are the largest four states by area. There are more than that that are larger than the UK, though.

OK - now we start getting into the "square" large states I think. Nevada, Utah for starters? Louisiana. Arkansas too. I would guess that all correct answers are west of the Mississippi River.

Only Nevada is correct of those you named above.

But, if you want to change it to 'what are they?', then I'm OK with that. So far, you have Alaska, California, Nevada, Montana and Texas. There are six more.

So you have got seven so far; Wyoming, Colorado, Alaska, Texas, California, Montana and Nevada.

The four left start with the letters; N, A, O and M. They are 5th, 6th, 9th and 11th in the list of states by area.
