I was about to ask where you managed to adopt those beautiful monsters :P
I say "Monsters" because of their size ![]() A few people her have what they simply call "Jungle Cats" and they are generally taken directly from the wild, the problem is that when they become a year or so, they go from loving cuddly cats into evil deranged "Wild" cats. I was offered one a few years ago but I know better then putting a wild cat in my house. These jungle cats weigh up to about 50 pounds, so not so little. when you say "little" rotty, how big do you mean? I've seen some rottys at the puppy park that weren't much bigger than 60 pounds |

My old German Shepherd, Max was big and at his biggest he weighed about 90 pounds, but he was a little over weight, he never had dysplasia or any other issues.. Max was a trained helper dog, I got him when he was already 2 years old, because he was too stubborn to be any real use as a helper dog. Max was a great companion and loved to ride in the Jeep with the roof off, I got into trouble when he ran beside the Jeep for a mile or so, I went very slow and he stayed on the sidewalk, I was stopped by the police and I had to convince them that I wasn't being cruel I took Max flying almost every time I was out, I only made him stay on the ground if I had a passenger, Max loved mild acrobatics especially negative g maneuvers for some reason. He would always be strapped in with a special flight harness, he did have a leather helmet and goggles, the goggles he would wear but the helmet was a chew toy I wanted to take Max skydiving, he would have without a pause, but my ex-wife refused I spent a lot of time with Max and was sad to leave him. When I came to Malaysia I gave him to my brother to keep, Max was already getting old, 14 years old, and he went to sleep about a month after I left and didn't wake. My brother was understandably upset and was afraid to call me. I knew he was very old and not likely to live much longer, thats why I didn't make him move with me, besides I would have had to lie to the airline to get him a seat in coach, because there is no way in hell Max would fly as cargo ![]() Sorry for the long post, it brought back memories ![]() Not photos of Max, I have none in digital. ![]() Skydiving pooch ![]() ![]() The same harness Max wore in the plane or the Jeep.

a lot of airborne units have parachuting mascots, one of the platoons in the 82nd even had a turtle that would jump! if you ever get a dog that needs to be kitted out again, there are now "doggles" that you can get. even my pup has a pair of them.
I have been lowered out of helicopters with a Newfie between my legs for search and rescue missions, so I completely get the whole working dog bit! |

I loved the working dog, but the whole having to work bit bothered me
![]() Max had a pair of goggles, they may have been Doggles, they sure look the same. I really wanted to skydive with Max, I had been doing it for years when I got him, but wives have the final say Max's harness was designed for jumping, it was a perfect way to put the seat belt on him, he hated kennels.if I can't find a Rotty I'll look for another Shepherd, but the heat and humidity is a killer for a medium haired Shepherd. We'll see ![]()
