Since the Kindle is 8.5mm thick, I suppose that this can only accomodate a Kindle with perhaps a very thin skin. My Kindle is over 1cm thick (the silicone is 2mm thick, according to Marware).

*sigh* I guess I'll have to go find another light. At least my wallet is happy...

Once again, thanks for all of your help. If you hadn't told me, I probably would have had purchased the light.

I understand from your posts that you have a skin but no cover. Have you thought about getting a cover and a light that fit together.
If so, then the M-Edge Capital cover and the M-Edge Eluminator light might be a better option. The light slides into the cover and fits very snuggly when you aren't using it. It takes one AAA battery.

It is a bit on the pricey side but after all the research I did on covers and lights I think it is the best combination and well worth the money.

How bright is it ?

According to an amazon review "The weak spot - the LED. It casts a faint, tinted glow towards the screen. It is enough to read with, but after having bright white LEDs from M-Edge and Belkin lights previously, this light is a candle compared to some of the others on the market" which is not at all a weakness for me (and especially my wife )

Your opinion ?

Thanks.

IMHO it is plenty bright. I also have the MEdge light and do not prefer one over the other.

I prefer the design of the Octovo light.

No thanks. I spent a fair price on my skin, and I like it. I'm not interested in getting a cover light. I'm in the market for a light that can clip-on to my Kindle. (I have a worn out MightyBright that served me well, but I would not buy another one)

hello! i have a question about the amazon lighted cover; does it use up a lot of the kindle's battery life?

i am very partial and am considering getting it as I love convenience and not have to attach other things and let them scatter when not in use.

Yellow light? I find it difficult to read with yellow light though it might not be for others. Or maybe an option to dim or brighten the light?

I don't find it drains the battery too bad. I only use the light occasionally but if you keep Wifi off the battery will last a very long time. The cover however adds significant weight to the Kindle and so I am looking for a light to attach to the top of a bare Kindle. I only need a light at night when the lights are off. Even in my dim lit home the Kindle is plenty dark enough not to need a light to read with.

Really ? But yellow light is much more natually than white light so I assume most people like yellow light better. Think of the sun's rays.

And yeah I know the sun's rays really consist of a multitude of colours.

I just want a nice light that:
  • clips to my Kindle
  • runs on one or two AA batteries
  • sufficiently lights my Kindle screen (I don't care about the keyboard that much)
  • gives no reflection/glare of light on the Kindle screen
  • no gooseneck (because that wears out quickly)

From what I hear around here, the Octovo Solis would be a good fit. UNFORTUNATELY, the protective skin on my Kindle adds 4mm thickness, so according to the CS Rep, it will not fit on my Kindle.

Anyone have recommendations?

What about a Might Bright e-Reader light? Not as sexy or practical as the Octovo Solis granted, but is still a very solid product and also very ajustable.
