I really like the Belgian system. Anyone can go to university here. Of course that also means about 70% of the first years don't make it to the second year. But at least everybody gets a chance!

No, I don't have my tea things or my kitties here. My sister is feeding them for me and she drove me by there to see them as soon as I was let go yesterday. I sure do miss them!

hmmm I am wondering where my Girl Scout cookies are. I ordered a bunch from a little girl who came by the house but they have not been delivered yet.

At last I can feel the entire mouth, jaw, tongue but the fillings in my mouth feel like something I would normally pick out of my teeth. So they smooth out over time so they feel normal?

I'm off to read a bit and then go to sleep - I just picked up "Dance, Dance, Dance" (Haruki Murakami) in the Croatian translation today (I have the English translation, but it has been expurgated, and I've always meant to get myself another translation) as a gift to myself for passing two exams today. It's been a habit of mine for a while to get myself little gifts - mostly books - as an incentive for my school work when I get a particularly nasty bit of school work out of the way.

I'm jealous too, but mostly because he's enjoying a 4 day weekend and I'm stuck at the office. Ah well, two more days and then it's weekend again!

I had a great morning so far. This guy I've know for a while (who takes the same train) was talking to me on the train this morning, and the cute guy that I've had my eye on for a while was listening very intently to our conversation and smiling at me . Too bad he didn't join in. Maybe I should go talk to him sometime soon Although he looks 'alpha' and I swore I wouldn't go there anymore after the last disaster.

I'll think about it some more over a cup of pure peppermint.

Watch out kid. Train friendships are precious. Train affairs are not. They just oblige you to a different time schedule, and it takes a long long time to build a nice friendly ambient again.

Good morning everyone! Welcome back Betty! You were missed. I'm glad to know that you are up and around once again, and hope you heal up quickly. Two days in hospital? That's amazing. I can remember when any invasive surgery kept us in a hospital bed for a week or more.

This morning begins with Taylors of Harrogate's English Breakfast tea, even though I'm having a Cajun-flavored ragout for the meal. It seems to work though.

I too like that system. It gives each student a chance to show just what they are willing and able to do. But I think they should be required to maintain a 'B' or better average all through the university years. After all, they are there (in most countries) to prepare for a real working life. Employers expect them (again, in most countries,) to actually be prepared when they graduate. If I were an employer I wouldn't want to hire a student who just coasted through classes. I'd want someone who put in some real effort.

My mouth is burning from the Tabasco in my breakfast, but my tongue is happy. I need more tea! I think another English Breakfast will do nicely.
