Did not honor first charge, now will I be getting battery problems?

Hi guys! I tried a bit of searching but unfortunately couldn'd find anything related to my issue

Half an hour ago I received my first ebook reader, that being the Amazon Kindle 3. I was so happy about that that I just turned it on right out of the box and set up some settings and connected it to my home wlan.

Now as I am reading about Kindles on the internet, people say you really should fully charge it first time before turning it on. And I didn't.

So the question is, will I be getting problems with the battery dying too quickly or something? What are the consequences of my undoubtfully foolish behavior?

I now plugged it in into my notebook and left it to charge. I live in Europe and the US adapter won't fit into my wall outlet and I don't have any converters at home right now and it's late here now so the stores are already closed. I heard wall outlet is preferable to USB charging.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. That first "big" charge and subsequent discharge are more about calibrating the charge indicator. I didn't wait on a full charge before playing with my Kindle 2 and the original battery is still alive and kicking today.

Don't worry, mate, if it was that important I'm sure you'd have gotten a big, bold warning massage the first time you turned on your Kindle. I'm also pretty sure DiapDealer is right about what he said.

You should still be able to calibrate it, though. You just need to fully charge it, fully discharge it, and then fully recharge the battery, if I'm not totally wrong.

Enjoy, mate.

Remember that it's normally bad to fully discharge your Kindle's battery. The best thing is to recharge it before it gets too low on battery. I personally like to recharge it around 15-20%.

Also, you could read this article below if you want to know more about lithium batteries:

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/a...ased_batteries

I just skimmed this particular article through so far, though, but it seems like a good article with comments from people at the end of the article.
