I believe the Flavia books are intended for (marketed towards) adults, not teens.

I hope so because I've just reserved one from the library. That said, a good book is a good book regardless of the target audience. Back in the day when I was a school librarian, I worked on the principle that if it didn't hold my attention it sure as heck wouldn't hold a child's.

Yeah, they're not YA or children's books for sure. Flavia may be 11, but she's 11 going on 78! With a devious streak.

Flavia De Luce

Glad everyones enjoying or looking into the Flavia De Luce series and I agree she is 11 going on 78 and yes the series is most certainly falls into the "Cozy can't put down" catagory.
Well I have another one for you all to have a look at.
Ghost in Trouble by Carolyne Hart I'm in the middle of it now and it's a real page turner. All I will say is that there is a great deal of detective work, someone is sent to protect someone and they go about solving the mystery arriving from the most unlikely place. Who kileled Jack ...Well only heaven knows ...besides I can't tell you because I havent finished the book yet. Let me know what you think!

I enjoy Carolyn Hart. The Death on Demand series was one of my mother's favorites. I started Ghost in Trouble but didn't finish it... it wasn't the book, it was the mood I was in at the time. I'll get back around to it eventually. Probably sooner rather than later now that you've brought it up.

Oh my gosh, that was hilarious! Thanks, Shel. You should post that one in the "What Are You Listening to Right Now?" thread.

I was just given a Tamar Myers book (Hell Hath No Curry) that my friend said I just have to read (at the very least, for me to check out the recipes.

Oh, lord. That's her "weird" series. Okay, well they're both weird but this one is weirder. It does have good recipes, but ....well, they're VERY farcical to me. I mean, who carries a Chihuahua in their bra, for pete's sake? I would suggest you start with the first one, if it's available in ebook, which I doubt.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Dean James series someone mentioned earlier in this thread, about the gay vampire, medieval historian, and amateur sleuth Simon Kirby-Jones. I dearly wish these were in ebook (if they are I couldn't find them), because I've only read one through my library and would love to have the rest of the series.

The series got progressively worse for me (see also: Kay Scarpetta) - I'd strongly urge starting at the beginning with this one!

I'd say Josh Lanyon's "Holmes and Moriarity" gay series qualifies as "cozy", though I'm not as certain I'd label his "Adrien English" ones as such.

Wait--the Pennsylvania Dutch one is WEIRDER than the Abby-antique-dealer series? How is that even POSSIBLE?

I gave up on the PA Dutch series a couple of books ago, but am still (barely) interested in Abby; Myers took the former in a direction that was more than I could swallow credibility over.

I think the Abby books are beyond awful. I expect a mystery, even a quirky, lighthearted one, to at least have a plot that makes some sense. Myers doesn't seem to be able to manage to tell a coherent story. All she seems to do is write oddball characters who are supposed to be funny in stupid situations. Horrible stuff, just horrible.

What I dislike about Abby the most is her eccentric assistant and the endless tales of the woman's family back in Shelby, NC. I don't think her series were horrible ideas, just that they grew old fast!
