Yes, certainly. If you liked Mistborn you will like The Well of Ascension too.

I discovered the truly wondrous powers of ereaders - allowing what I call "viral" reading.

I began with "The Man Who Ate His Boots" (A. Brandt) -- yet another retelling of the Franklin expedition & all the British attempts to find the Northwest Passage -- which described Franklin's posthumous popularity in the popular press of that time -- including a prominent mention in Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" -- which I had to check out -- and yes, he mentioned Franklin & his ships (Terror & Erebus) -- which led me to read more Conrad, then jump to Melville - for a fantastic nautical weekend -- all courtesy of books stored on my ereader - and instantly available.

It's a wonderful feature -- having the ability (and capacity) to load up with collections of classic literature -- and then being able to "dip in" at will. If this had been available when I was a kid, I probably would never have taken "my nose out of that book!"

Looks like I'm picking the slow reads this week. Struggling with The Mirror of Her Dreams by Stephen Donaldson. Another one that goes nowhere slowly.

don't usually do audiobooks but i might give this a try.
there's just too big a gap between the release of the original and translated versions.
it's a bit frustrating knowing a new book is out but not yet available in english.

it's only a short book, wouldn't take up much of your time
go for it

I agree! I really would love to get my Japanese to the level that I could read books in the original language.

I'm going to go straight on with the next collection:
The Magic Kingdom of Landover, vol. 2 by Terry Brooks. I also bought this back in December 2009 from Fictionwise.

I fear that the series probably goes downhill, but I'll have to read them to find out.

Give it a try in txtr or Bluefire and see if it works. If it doesn't, then it's the eBook and not Overdrive.

Just finished it and the last 100 pages or so was much better. Please tell me the pace of the second book is faster. In any case I think I'm going to take a break and read some sci-fi for a while. After two slow-paced fantasy books I'm ready for something else.

Not really. I'm a huge Donaldson fan, but I've always felt pretty 'meh' about Mordant's Need.

I found the second book much better than the first: faster and bigger. It still can't compare to Donaldson's Covenant or Gap series, but I found the second book a worthwhile read when the first had left me doubtful.
