I just wanted to post that I would like this functionality as well. The reason I want it is to know which files I have already added the ISBN to. Some files show a rating which makes it obvious that I have already done it. But on some I don't know unless I bring up the edit window. It would be nice. All editable fields should be available for sorting, like iTunes.

Holding up iTunes as an example is is hilarious. If you want to know what books dont have ISBN typeisbn:false in the search bar. And in any case this functionality has already been implemented and will appear in a couple of weeks. |

That works for me. I don't like iTunes. But my music collection is the only thing other than my books that needs to be managed, and it does have every possible field available.

Does it have custom fields of multiple types, including fields that auto-increment and are regex searchable?

Just a heads up, you can now get a ISBN column. re: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sourc...CYiNSs4uMB6YHA at bottom
or: Assuming you are running 0.7.21 [or newer], create a custom column of type 'column built from other columns'. Then enter as the template '{isbn}' (no quotes.) See the tutorials section of the manual for more discussion of what you can do with templates. |

Hi all
It is possible (and easy) to add the ISBN to the Calibre list view. To do it add a new column and enter the following information.... Lookup Name = isbn Column Heading = ISBN Column Type = Column built from other columns Template = {isbn} Note that the Template fields only gets shown when selecting the correct column type. calibre, version 0.7.46 I probably overlooked something really obvious but I can't see what :PERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>AttributeError</b>:'QString' object has no attribute 'strip' Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\preferences\create_custom_co lumn.py", line 161, in accept AttributeError: 'QString' object has no attribute 'strip' As for why I want the ISBN column, it's to check which titles are missing an ISBN before I import my library to LibraryThing. I guess I'll use isbn:false in the search bar thingy instead, but I don't like to leave errors unaddressed. |

It's a known bug, if you searched the forum for the error message you'd have found out. It's fixed in the next release, as a workaround, switch to english for the interface language.
