I don't know about the move, but the true story, if I remember right there were over 70 that managed to escape and all but 4 were recaptured, and of that 50 were executed, 6 Canadians I remember for sure.

I think the only (unwritten) rule is that we don't use Google to supply an answer unless given permission. Asking God is permitted.

I guess I'll just have to watch the show again.

As a side note, my great uncle was in a pow camp for most of the war, he was shot down in 1940 I think, he passed away many years ago now, but he used to talk about being in the camp, I was very young at the time and all I wanted to know was if he shot down any Nazi's (we were never allowed to say Germans, being of German decent), he was a navigator and refused to talk about the fighting. I learned after his death that he suffered severely from what they called "Shell shock". 10 years before he died he disappeared in the North, built a cabin and live for the most part completely alone, he hated people it would seem.

God, being God, sometimes tells us things to help us grow. He/she puts things in our paths that we need to learn to overcome. Such as the correct number of successful escapees in the movie version of the Great Escape....

It ain't 5 no matter Who (note the capital W) says it.
