I had a brother who worked for Arby's a long time ago. While there the government said "Arby's, you're selling beef flavored chicken as beef. Make up your mind, one or the other".

Arby's used to taste better when it was flavored chicken.

If you're old enough to remember when they had flavored salt on the table (and for sale) that was when it was chicken meat.

I just checked. You can't even find a reference to Arby's selling seasoned salt. But if you know anyone who ate there back in the '60s they should remember it setting on the tables.

Do any of you remember the salted chips of way back: the salt was packaged in a little blue paper in the bag of chips.

In about an hour I'll be dinning on a salmon I caught off the wharf in the summer and has been frozen (not store or farmfish) grilled on a open fire, half the salmon has been marinating in a teriyaki sauce (soy sauce, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and olive oil) for four hours and the other half has a Cajun dry rub (home made as well). And will also have potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil and baked in the embers of the fire.

should be good

How far is way back and what kind of chips? It does tickle the memory just a little.

I just finished making vienna schnitzel with gravy and yellow squash/zucchini. It's one of the few things that I do very well.

I've just read through this thread while eating my long awaited brownies. Somehow my brownies just didn't taste so good after reading about all the great food described here.

beppe, yum. I want to start taking the time to prepare and present my meals again.

I was in this youth-club. We walked every saturday about 10 miles in cute uniforms: white skirts and blazers white/red. We were with several walking-clubs, nationwide; transported in a bus to some city and away we went. We always got a medal as well. I still have those.
After that walk we had to sell ballpoints/ agenda's door to door; to finance the club.

(I hated that). Only then we would get some soda (luxury) and even better: chips with that blue packet of salt. Never seen it since.

I had an awesome lunch today! I don't often buy pre-prepared food, but the other day in Costco some "spinach pancakes" begged to come home with me. they go under the broiler and get nicely crunchy. I had them with some tzatziki, hummus with red pepper, some grape tomatoes and walnuts. awesome!

I think I am going to have to learn how to make them!

I would eat that as well; that's a nice vegetarian dish you had there.

there's a big difference between vegans and vegetarians. desertblues is a vegetarian
