But sometimes you just have to conclude that you can't make any conclusions. There might be indications that support a certain conclusion, but you can't be sure. But from your answer I'm guessing you're involved in 'hard science' and not social science like I am.

I just can't stand it if beppe's sex is still a myth. Now I have my conclusion and I'm satisfied, even though it may turn out wrong. You mean natural science? in some senses, yes, I like maths and physics.
