Almost a sale
I recently visited friends in Hawaii and finally pursuaded my hosts that they could purchase "Mewsings: My Life as a Jewish Cat" even if they did not have a Kindle. So we click the download to Mac feature, but alas, turns out they have an older version that would not work. These friends could not understand my disappointment. Does anybody else get upset when a sale fails by inches?

Sure. I have friends that don't have ereaders and have trouble getting the app for their phone or computer. I had a friend in Canada have trouble for months trying to buy one of my books. It's frustrating, but she was able to get it eventually.

I wouldn't know about missing sales from strangers. I do know I missed sales from friends and relatives who don't have an e-reader and don't want to download the Kindle app to their computer. Now that I have a book in print as well, they have no excuse. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for all the comments. I resonate strongly with the bit from joycedb about friends and relatives not making the effort (hope they buy your books in print). What I have found so astonishing, even hurtful, is the lack of follow-through from friends who promised to buy the book the very next day. Little do they realize how good I am at tracking the numbers at Amazon and B&N....

It takes thirty seconds to download Kindle for PC so no real excuse there.
