I agree that it is not acceptable at all, that someone makes people scared to go to a forum. To cope with or to ignore offensive posts is not everyone's cup of tea. I can understand that and I recognize their pain.

That post of Recluse appealed to me. I wish that he could solve his own problems and that he could be a part of this friendly, relaxed community once again.

Also a bit naive perhaps, this believe in the good thing in every person, but I've been proved more times right than wrong. Also; I've been given a few chances myself.

For the most part, there is good in everyone. We are all a mixture, with qualities both good and bad. We strive in daily life to express the good ones and suppress the bad ones.

Some folks, alas, have problems that can interfere. I knew a chap years ago like that. He was a published writer with an increasingly successful career, and in person was a courtly old-fashioned gentleman and a pleasure to know.

Then he suffered a debilitating stroke. He was able, through medicine and acupuncture, to regain the ability to walk, with a cane. The more tragic issue was that the stroke affected the portion of the brain that serves as the governor. He became a bitter individual, prone to violent and uncontrolled rages. He drove away people who had been his friends for decades because they simply couldn't deal with him.

He continued to write and get published, but his work post-stroke suffered in comparison with what he had done before. When he died, I considered it a mercy. I don't think his life post-stroke was much worth living, and I think on some level he was aware of what had been taken from him.

Recluse has the sort of problems that get in the way. I believe his are treatable, and hope he can find and accept help that will give him balance and allow him to function in society. The person that he could be would be a fine and precious thing.
